    Bull prospect

Dead calves aren't worth much. We were never a fan of heavy birthweights. Calving problems can cause the cow to not breed back, or breed back later than usual. Once you get heavy birthweights in your cows, it's hard to get rid of.

Meat quality on a 30 month old angus cow ?

I would say what you are tasting that is disgusting could be the fault of the cooling/aging process. We've had that happen if there is too many carcasses in the cooler and the air can't circulate as it should. It ruined our hamburger. Does your hamburger taste okay? My mother was a meat wrapper...

    New bulls

I would like to see more muscle on them.

    Bull prospect

In-breeding enhances the good traits, but it also enhances the bad traits. You have to be careful when in-breeding or like Mark Reynolds said, it "may be disastrous." You have to know what you were doing. Maybe you know your cattle good enough to safely try it. If it were me, I wouldn't. Good luck!

Meat quality on a 30 month old angus cow ?

Older animals have a more 'beefy' flavor which is a good thing. As long as she is on the gain you should be fine. How long as her calf been weaned?

    Simmental bull

I used to talk to a lot of Bull Producers in Montana as I worked for a publication in which those producers bought ads. I used to ask them what they looked for when seeking a bull prospect. The uniform answer from these seedstock breeders was "balance". They look for a bull that is...

    Simmental bull

I think people tend to forget that some of the BW comes from the dam. Focus is usually on the bull, but there is the dam to consider too.

    Simmental bull

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't care for the bull. His back looks low, his tail head is high coming out of his back. You wouldn't want heifers that had that trait. You are concerned about his sheath. That would be 3 strikes and he's out for me. Not to mention wide in the shoulders. If in...

    Debating Bull Breeds

#1. Thank you for caring. #2. Do you have your cows on some type of supplemental feed now? That's the FIRST thing I would do. They have to live to get bred. What you showed us look like drastic forage conditions to me. And the cows show it. #3. Keep it simple. Try a Black Angus bull and a...

    Got a couple pictures

It is my experience that what you are seeing here will go away when they shed this hair. I wouldn't say it was from copper deficiency. When we found out our health issues were caused by copper deficiency, our cows had the tell-tale reddish triangle on their withers. We didn't even notice it but...

That's just showing there is a red gene in their background. Nothing to worry about IMO.

    Got a couple pictures

What is the source of the copper you are using? Copper sulfate is the best as far as being utilized by the cow, not copper chloride or copper oxide. Chelated copper might be warranted in your case, but find out what exactly is chelated and how much of it is chelated. Chelated is a buzz word...

    Truth in Advertising?

That is an old menu. Winchester's Steak House isn't open any longer. We live 20 miles from there. Someone bought it, and now it is called Cattle Guard Steakhouse and Saloon. (I thought that was a dumb name). Winchesters was said to be the best steak house in the whole area. Now it is said that...

    Pharo cattle company

Some of the AI companies are being swallowed up by big business and no longer provide the services the producer is used to. So maybe things will change in the AI field. Hopefully for the better for the producer. So many companies forget about the END USER.
