    Rank coat color (sales)

So I'm wanting to get some updated information for my large animal science class. I used to have a report that showed how much discount each coat color received vs black (if someone has that, I would appreciate a link). But that report was several years back and was not regional. So if you...

    Black Hereford

I'm personally against any breed turning "black" to suit some fad, not just Herefords, but in the case of Herefords it really seems oxymoronic since a baldy has a different look to it than a black Hereford. It isn't desirable commercially as is and doesn't give you any hybrid vigor. Very easy to...

    Black Hereford

I think they are a waste of money and a fad. The market for them isn't large and the commercial guys will treat them like a Hereford x Holstein cross and dock you. If you've got 32 black angus cows, I would much rather buy a horned Hereford bull and get some hybrid vigor out of the black baldy...

Take a look at these bulls

I'd say 4k is about right for them. Meat prces are up. $1000 each at the weekly auction...

    breeds that grass finish

All breeds have cattle in them that have the ability to grass finish in two years, but breeds that don't advertise it are often breeds that put their emphasis on traditional grain finishing. yes the pool is larger than Jovid said, but there are hundreds of breeds throughout the world, so he...

    breeds that grass finish

Although that can range from 18-24 months depending on how good your grasses are and if you're killing heifers or steers. Steers grow a little faster, but grassfeed heifers fatten about 100 pounds lighter than their mothers, steers 100 pounds heavier.

    Limi Yearling Wt. Rank?

My neighbor said he noticed the same thing when he went to purchase a Charolais bull. Said it was a lot shorter legged than those he'd gotten in the past, although I haven't actually seen it.

What breed is this? Hereford and ?

I've got a "Hereford" cow that shares some of the same traits, although she stays overnourished. I've begin to wonder if she were not a Hereford Simmental cross.

    Red Polls

Those are the two breeds I've been most interested in crossing due to the traits of each. I think they would be very complementary to each other, and I plan on finding out in the future.

    Limi Yearling Wt. Rank?

It's not just that if my information is correct. I'm looking at an extension publication about cow size and nutrient requirements and the table, which I will type below is for 5 year old's. Look at which breeds are the heaviest. Table 1 Breed 5-year-old weight, lbs...

    breeds that grass finish

Well, I know that breeds that focus their traits on grass finishing, on average have a higher percentage of their animals that do well on grass finishing versus breeds that focus on faster growth, feedlot traits, etc. Knersie, what breeds do you think are better for grass finishing? Here in...

    best breed

Speaking of hybrid vigor. I've always wanted to cross a Morgan with a Percheron. I bet that would be a hard pulling horse. You probably couldn't wear that horse out with a stick.

    CATTLE IN OTHER COUNTRYS

Really like the before and after picks of the cattle. I like to see cattle turn around like that. I do a little bit of it, but not to that extreme.

    well here it is

Agreed. I've bought quite a few pairs (some bred back) for between $590 and $725. Some are Herefords, Angus, some crossbreds, and one that I think is just a longhorn that was dehorned as a calf. $550 for a longhorn pair sounds about right.

    Finally, here they are

The question I have is, what breed are they? They're black, which means they could be any breed. If they are straight Angus, then they are on the thin side, but if they have Chi blood in them, then they could just grow frame for a long time before putting on condition, and the condition they...

    Bull I'm going to use

I'm with Aussie Cowgirl on that. A touch more heart girth wouldn 't be bad, althought I think he's a good specimen.
