    best breed

Elephant/longhorn would also have a great secondary ivory market. Your angus cross would be polled. Got to be thinking about these things!

    Is this a good cross?

Mr. Greenjeans 1 Frankie 0 Just because a breed organization wants to make up some rules doesn't make there point of view the word of God. If a black angus cow has a red calf and it isn't a red angus, but it isn't a black angus then someone is full of it. :tiphat:

    Longhorn-Angus cross

Somn- You and me disagree on what being a decent person is and not attacking everyone and trying to prove myself correct and find some small error in someones post to argue about. Anyway after answering your personell attack I would say at the auction buyer beware. I like the auction and I...

    Longhorn-Angus cross

Many people have asked about cross breeding and for the purpose of adding muscle, maybe some hybrid vigor. I think the large buyers can tell the difference and will pay more for a cross then a straight longhorn. How is this cheating anyone? If you can't tell what the breed is buy off the farm...

    Longhorn-Angus cross

Anyone who goes to the auction and buys acording to color and can't tell what breed they are buying should get some help, but a pro buyer who can't tell a char from a char/lh needs a new job. I think to bad for them because buyers have been looking at color to much and even more then muscle...

    Corn price=breed change?

corn price= breed change? I guess that depends on how long you think corn based ethanol production will continue in this country. I wouldn't make long term changes, but easy keepers without grain should be the goal anyway.

    Corn price=breed change?

Is this about the cow herd being efficient or calves gaining in the lot? Some are talking about animals puting on muscle when they seem to be talking about the cow herd. Cows need to put on and take of fat not muscle. I thought easy keepers was an old idea, not something people are just...

    almost time to buy

I sure remember all my dead auction animals! In this region I will be able to get the price I want. Jeanne SV- I don't think we look at or for the same quality cattle. I am sure there will be alot of long bred cows at the auction this spring that go cheap. One may die or one may prolapse...

    almost time to buy

I am so excited about the spring and actually owning some cattle again. I plan on buying 10 springing Herefords this spring, calving them out and selling them as pairs just after calving. I am going to keep them corraled for that time. I think prices for herefords this spring will be about...
