    Weight gain- Texas Longhorn calves

You also have a wide size range. 700 lb to 800 lb adult cows is normal for LH's. Then you have some that are 1000 lb cows. The WR longhorns are very small in size. Then you have "Monster Longhorns" like the ones Ryan breeds. At 14 months you can be breeding a 400 lb heifer! Sure looks weird...

    Longhorns Cows

Longhorn Breeders have been blessed with cattle with very long and productive lives. How long do you keep your Longhorn cows? What age do you stop breeding them? How old is too old? I am always thinking about the 29 year old Longhorn that had 28 calves. A 16 year Longhorn cows starts to look...

What is the largest cattle ranch in the world?

Does the King Ranch still use helicopters to move the cowboys around? I saw a helicopter used once to herd cattle, neatest thing ever. One helicopter could do the work of 10 cowboys on 4 wheelers.

    Texas Longhorn Nutrition

LH's can eat almost anything, it's more of a question of "want" or "have too". LH's don't want to eat catus....... but will. LH's don't want to eat cedar trees...... but will. I saw a LH eat rocks one time.... If you have fences then it's your job to make sure the LH's don't ever "have...

    Texas Longhorns

"tough hardy animals"..... I have seen longhorns pastured in cedar breaks gain weight. Longhorns are like billy goats.... can and will eat anything. Poison lvy, poison oak, sticker bushes.... trim all the trees. Other breeds would stave to death before eating some of the things longhorns like to...

    Longhorn Colors

What are the different colors you have seen on Longhorns? I was told about a Blue Texas Longhorn Bull by a Vet, who gave me the ranchers phone number. I called him to see if he would stud his bull, he said yes. I dropped off the cow and the Bull had tiny blue spots. Very cool! I am hoping for...
