    Searching for POA

p.m. sent, let me know what happens. If they have one you like, & you need help with transport, let me know, I may be able to help... my kid's heading back to Montana on Wednesday, and not much going on after that, so I could make time for a road trip.

    Searching for POA

Hey! There's a POA breeder right down the road from me, & they're selling off a lot of them, sign in the front yard says weanlings, yearlings, mares for sale. I'll go get their # & p.m. it to you, they're (we're) about 45 min to an hour north of Minneapolis, MN.

Hey, SS, where have ya been? Nice filly... what's up with the mare... a blue-buckskin roan? That's...different! At least you can ID her in a field, unlike my herd of blaze-faced sorrels, LOL!

    Horse Rating Scale

    1. Ya gotta set firecrackers off under it's belly to get it to open it's eyes 2. Will ride, but you gotta keep up on the riding crop and spurs to keep it awake 3. Will walk & trot at will, might turn, but needs a motivator to go any faster 4. Average Kid broke horse, been there, done that, might...

    Just some fun pics

Haven't posted in a while, been playing with the kids and horses, but took a few pics, and wanted to share. Went to a little show this last weekend, the 3 yr old got a 5th in leadline tiny tot showmanship. (He answered the judge's question of "What is this called{points to saddle horn}?" Kid...

    Tripping

Don't know if this helps or not, but had a "lazy" mare a few yrs ago, she'd do a 3 point nose skid landing in the middle of a trail, just seemed to forget to pick up her feet sometimes. Farrier did the rolled toe thing with her shoes, didn't help all that much. He said to put a pair of splint...

What was the name of your first horse?

"Lady", a fleabit grey arab. Used to let the horses out on our yard "Grass" outside Phoenix, in the spring, and I remember her rolling, and getting little purple spots from the little wildflowers.

    Imprint Training

LOL, thanks, didn't mean to sound like I was beating myself up... she's just SUCH a PEST, and has no respect for my personal space, even after several sessions with a dressage whip smacked in the chest, when she comes in "My Space". Have had to "remind" her, upside the cheek, seems like Daily...

    Imprint Training

Ok, I have a question... so if it's IMPRINTING at Birth, but GROUND TRAINING at 6 months, which is the "Right" way? Then you hear of some cutting Trainers, (Larry Trocha, just a website I found) that says imprinted foals are harder to train, because the average horse owner "thinks" they are...

Should I tie a colt in the trailer?

I've got a 2-horse side by side, took the divider out, and not only is it more comfortable for horses, as they aren't so confined, and they can ride at a 45degree angle like a slant if they choose. I've hauled a total of 36 different horses and ponies in it, for myself and a rescue I work with...

Problems loading horse into two-horse trailer? LOOK HERE

Just my 2 cents... 1 horse going into a 2-horse,(if the height is ok, and you can't afford to go buy a new stock trailer or a slant-load) take the divider out. Most lift out, if not, find someone with a blowtorch and cut that sucker out. Even if your horse is loading OKAY... for now, they're...

New edition to the farm today with pictures

;-) Yep, Palomino! That Blonde tail and mane will shed out and turn white. A good vitamin-weight supplement for the mare, that I've used successfully on some of my thinner rescue horses is called Focus WT, made by Source. It's a seameal supplement, and works great, just mix in 1/4 cup with the...

New edition to the farm today with pictures

Everything bleeds when they give birth, lol...just more noticeable on a mare with high white on the legs, if that's what you were referring to. Don't see any dun markings, no dorsal stripe, or ear pinstriping. He's got that "Peachy" color palominos are born with, and the lighter skin around...

Fused Hocks.... on a yearling, ?'s

Ok, here she goes again... another rescue, another backyard breeder, I'm afraid. Long story short, (Well, short story short!) Lady comes in for grooming on her dog, sees my horse pics in my shop, starts up a conversation about this "Free Colt" she's trying to get rid of... Has 3 horses, just...

New edition to the farm today with pictures

I'm gonna say he's going to be a palomino... Palomino to cherry red chestnut gives a 50% chance palomino, looks like your mare is the right shade of red. http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Outback/2 ... omino.html This link kinda explains it... A really COOL book is called "Horse color explained" by...

    Got some pics!

Let's just say we got a nasty lesson in the difference between Timothy hay and yellow foxtail hay... he got ulcers in his mouth, quit eating, and lost a bunch of weight. He's doing better now though, gained back almost 80#.

Ever seen bloody drool in 6 month old colts?

Just an update, Blaze is doing better, finally, and is putting on weight! According to the weight tape, he's put on about 30# in the last 2 weeks. Here's a face to go with the name. Sorry, just learned how to post pics, y'all are gonna get sick of me, LOL!
