    Putting Colt Under Saddle

Circlet, I have one she would never get bored on. He is a 4YO going on 2. He always puts some excitement between your legs. Given a choice I prefer to raise mine from a yearling. Sometimes there are other factors involved for folks though.

    Putting Colt Under Saddle

Heck, by 5 mine are looking forward to retiring. I start round pen work from 12-18 months. Get on them at 24-28 months and work in the round pen. Ride them out of the round pen anywhere from a month to two into the woods. I don't ride them very long during this period. Usually not more...

    RFD Horse Auction

Seems down here folks keep track of every nickle they put into a horse and when they go to sell it they ask for what they have invested. I overheard a lady the other day tell another lady she has a $40,000 horse (gelding). She shows him and he never wins. I know her husband and know he would...

    Putting Colt Under Saddle

Oh boy this is a tough one. I prefer to get mine as weanling's. I get know them and they get to know me before we start schooling. The last two I went both ways. I bought a weanling and 6 months later bought a "green broke" 3.5 YO. I worked the baby from the ground starting at about 14 months...

    Enough, I'm Done

Maybe you can start your own club if that is what you want. I think those offices should be rotated every year just to keep folks from getting into situations like yours. I don't understand how my niece puts up with it but has now for about 4 years.

    RFD Horse Auction

I happened across the auction on RFD this weekend. It was somewhere in Idaho. Boy was I shocked. Some really nice broken/trained fillies going for next to nothing. $2-$3,000. Heck you can't get one trained down here for that. I only saw one yearling stud (Blue Roan) go. He went for $4600. I...

    Horse trailers

You can also get the Exciss and Feather-Lite (both made in the same plant) with slant gates and still have a center cut gate and escape door. All features I really like. I didn't get the slant gates though as I just stuff one horse in the front and one in the rear and let them wonder around.

If you or your kids participate, then just enjoy doing that. You don't need the aggravation of that crap. Good luck.

The things a horse can get hurt on, bad wound pic

Up on my soapbox. NEVER, and mean never leave equipment in with horses. They will find a way to hurt themselves on it. Glad it wasn't worse.

Well, I wish you luck. I know it can be hard to swallow accusations though.

    Enough, I'm Done

Those clubs all seem to be like being back in high school. There were the clicks and you belonged or you didn't. My niece and her husband were in one of those clubs. She was secretary and he was President. How I don't know because he did not ride and I'm not sure he could even spell horse. At...

    "Conformation" not "Halter"

I don't show but I know some folks that do. They were telling me the other day there is a big push by the AQHA to get back to basics. They are going to put on a concerted effort to get QH's back to looking and carrying themselves like a QH is supposed to. That's just for what it is worth. I...

    A Little Gun Shy (pics)

Here's another version; One white foot buy em. Two white feet try em. Three white feet, deny him. Four white feet, take off his hide and throw him to the crows. Or One white foot buy em. Two white feet try em. Three white feet, keep him not a day. Four white feet, get rid of him right away...

    A Little Gun Shy (pics)

Too many white feet for me. I'm not sure what to tell you about getting over your butterflies. As a young kid/man I got dumped and bumped a lot because I didn't care, I would climb aboard anything if someone would hold it long enough for me to get on. Fortunately, I didn't kill myself...

The problem I have with laying them down is they don't have a clue as to why you laid them down. They don't understand what they did wrong.

Hi, and pics of my horse

Nice horse but how do you know he is a barrel horse? Or, are you going to train him to be a barrel horse? Is he broke? There is a lady here ( I use the term loosely) called Drumrunner. She might be able to provide some guidance in training for barrels.

    horse schooling

I have never used one myself but I recently was at very respected trainers place here. I saw him grab a collar and go into a stall as I arrived. He put it on a mare that would try to tear the walls of the stall down if a horse was beside her and she could see it. It took two mild jolts and she...
