    Redhill B571 Julian 1W

If you don't mind moderating growth a touch, Buffalo Creek T189 nice n easy has been a home run here for daughters with good hair, feet, and udders. Easy fleshing...but not overly big. My 54p daughter had a little too much power for my program and fell out. T189 and his son, Red Hill Medal...

    Choctaw Chief 373

Good luck Mike. Let us know how the breeding goes. Being from the SE, hair coat is an interest to me.

    OCC bulls pros vs cons

Agree with the above comments. Many of them make good terminal grass finishing type offspring. Fewer bloodlines will leave you daughters that might make it to your your grandma pen. This is admittedly more second hand than first hand experience...but I've been in quite a few herds.

    Pinebank Waigroup 41/97

SA....tell me about muscle bound? Was this what created what you describe as stiff legged in hips and rear legs? And is this the reason you got rid of the bulls? What did you cross the bulls with?

    Need to moderate frame

Composite means that a lot of the heterosis has already been captured. If you keep outcrossing you will continue to expand the possibilities of what happens at every mating. I'd breed to a FB and save daughters and see how they do. I really like a bull I've bought a few daughters on from...

    HAR Pinebank 443 202

Mostly have bull pics because that's what I'm marketing typically...but I'll snap some next time I can.

    Need to moderate frame

The answer probably depends on what other traits you are trying to promote, and how you market your cattle. Tell us more.

    HAR Pinebank 443 202

SA Angus...what traits are you trying to improve? I have quite a few full blood and 50-75%+ Pinebanks...but I need more info to make a suggestion. My full bloods are moderate, have good bone and feet, good testicles on sons, mature early, lots of capacity, and excellent at converting forage...

    Pinebank Waigroup 41/97

I'm not sure he ever hit 3000k, but he was massive. Willie could testify to actual weight. I believe 2600lbs is closer to the truth. 41/97 should add good feet, fertility, and grass efficiency in a moderate frame. They mature early, have good testicles, and good blend of fleshing ease and...

    HAR Pinebank 443 202

Ebenezer- I agree you have to be careful with single trait selection, and you can select against enough performance with too much emphasis, but you would be a fan of 202 if you've seen him or his mother. Regrettably i don't have enough experience with his progeny, but I know his blood.

    Bradley 3 Back to Basics

Anybody used any Bradley 3 bulls over the years, either natural or AI? Especially interested in Back to Basics. I visited them a few years back and was really impressed with their emphasis on fertility and the amount of selection pressure they put on their brood herd under range conditions...

What can you tell me about Charlo

1441 is a frame 5.5....so you won't be bringing frame down very quick or far. And even though they share a common ancestor (Rito 707), I have a hard time believing that SAV is a maternal herd. (Saving daughters I assumed was the point of the Charlo question). I believe that it's probably one...

What can you tell me about Charlo

Ebenezer- The bull has NOT seen a lot of usage in purebred herds that register cows, I suspect, because of those flat numbers from cow families reaching back decades. My daughters are on the smaller side, but not tiny....and the calves i've weaned have not been abnormally undersized. Pinebank...

What can you tell me about Charlo

41/97 of Kinloch E005 Reg: AAA +*16870261 https://www.facebook.com/KinlochFarm/ I've been up to Kinloch on numerous occasions, and have bought bulls and heifers from them. I've also visited over 25 ranches that I would say specialize in maternal, grass-based genetics, from GA to Montana. E005...

Heifer Pregnancy EPD - Do you believe it?

If you really want to increase heifer fertility, choose programs that stress fertility, and not growth. (especially programs that have a similar environment and management style to your program) Then come back and breed growth in your terminal cross. You will make way more progress in one...

    Choctaw Chief 373

I have friends with 373 semen that are interested in ET work utilizing the bull. Was wondering what people thought of him, in consideration of a potential partnership. Wanted as much info to know what people thought of him or his direct progeny, and what he did or did not offer the breed.

    Choctaw Chief 373

Anybody ever come across any direct descendants of Choctaw Chief 373, considered one of the foundation bulls of the Red Angus breed? I saw that Halfmann down in texas sold a few bulls last year out of teenage cows that were grandsons. I know he seems to be lined up in some of the early good...

The best bull to create replacement females.

Once you've spend enough seasons doing the hard work of making your cows fit your environment, applying the right amount of culling pressure, Ebenezer is right. No better way to improve your cow herd than letting nature do the work. This takes time. A great breeder (I do not use this term...

B/R New Design and his son GAR Predestined = cow makers?

To me a cow maker is a bull that will consistently produce fertility, soundness, and longevity in your environment. There are a lot of bulls out there that have been used that will produce WW, YW and $B, with impressive EPD's across the board....there are much fewer that will consistently...
