    Peak Dot Angus experience?

Bought a bull from them last year and just purchased some embryos. Looking forward to injecting their breeding into a couple of our cow lines.

Blame the sire or just dumb luck?

Blame the sire. 7 of 9 opens we had this year on replacements were sired by the same bull. He is going away.

Boy, what a year so far...

We've had 2 sets so far this year. As the % of simmental has been reduced in our herd we had gotten to the point we didn't get many twins. With 2 sets from the get go I'm worried about how many more we're going to have now.

VAR Power play and SAV Emblem

    Yes, I prefer renown myself.

VAR Power play and SAV Emblem

Pretty starkly different types of animals there. Hard to recommend one of those two when they are completely different directions.

    Calving Woes

We've had a terrible run with backward calves this year. Have had 3 of them so far. Only one didn't survive as she was one of the first to calf so we weren't really expecting her to be close yet.

    Heat Detection Patches

Hard to put a percentage on it but it makes a huge difference in the "silent" heats or less active females.

    How reliable is Angus $EN

I believe the consensus cattle are naturally easy fleshing. I have no knowledge of Hoover dam other than folks like the females.

    How reliable is Angus $EN

I've quit paying attention to $EN for the most part unless it's extreme one way or another. The high positives I've found raise puds and the extremely low I'd be worried about breed back. But for the most part it's a index that doesn't really follow function/form.

    Running 2 bulls together

We run flush brothers together all the time. They live together from the day they get of the trailer until they go to slaughter. They have an established pecking order and it works. Where you get into trouble is if the bulls don't have the pecking order figured out and they have to constantly...

    Bull gone bad

Did you test him for BLV by chance?

    Bull gone bad

had he been with cows recently? I've seen where a bull hasn't been used regularly for a while then get to breed a cow the day before being tested and he'll come up empty on a test and just needs to go breed a few practice cows to get the pipes clean so to say.

    Foot Improver?

Ext and Traveler got crossed a lot as they were the two most popular lines of cattle at the time. Resource is showing to be a foot improver. I don't have experience with Thunder

    Barn camera

I read through that and have gone scoured the net. Doesn't seem like the solar units that are out there have the range or are so expensive it pays to run the power the 1000 ft. Cows may have to survive the old fashioned way.

    Barn camera

So do all of these systems have to have hardwired electricity or is there something out there that is good enough to run on solar?

    A question for commercial guys.

If a person is mismatching genetics and doesn't have some semblance of a plan of where they want their herd to be I"m not going to waste my time stepping on their place. Give me the guy using 2 bulls not the guy using 20+

    Angus Heifer bull ideas

Let’s see them. I thought our seedstock heifers were nice. Pedigree calves grew on me as the year went. Definitely have some extra frame.

    Angus Heifer bull ideas

With that pedigree I would believe him to be far more maternal than his Epds say. Those hero cattle are flat good cattle

    Longhorn as a recip

There is also some level of amniotic exchange. Enough that a piece of that recip is left with that calf. If sure want to use the best recip possible.

    Longhorn as a recip

I would think the handling issues would be enough to make it not worth the effort. Couldn't take a load of cows to just any embryologist as they likely aren't set up to handle the horns
