I was always told not to set a battery on concrete and NEVER set one on a steel plate!?!?!?

    Tractor over heating

How many hours are on this tractor. If the obvious has been checked and rechecked I would look at the fuel pump setting. I have encountered this with Cats a time or two. Could be set wrong from factory (rebuilt?) or possibly worn out. Back to the overheating, has the coolant temp been...

    GPS system

We have two systems by John Deere Northstar. One is a GPS stearing system that we use to plant rice in stubble fields where a row marker is very difficult to see and also to lay-off rows in a plowed field. We also have a light bar system that we use on a 90 ft boom sprayer. I'll get some more...

    4-wheeler mowers

If Im not mistaken we got a pull behind Swisher finish mower with a 60 inch cut and 12 hp Kohler for well under $4000. But that was many moons ago.

    4-wheeler mowers

Swisher makes a decent product. I would check Tractor Supply or Sutherlands Home Improvement. They have Bush Hog types as well as finish mowers.

    Favorite 4 x 4 side by side

We have owned a Mule, Ranger, and Kubota on the farm. All 4X4 and the Ranger was the only gas engine of the three. The mule is head and shoulders above the others. (now that we have the right tires for the job) As for as a Honda I would bet it is a great machine but Im sure its gonna be pricey!

    Propane Tractors

In high school I worked for a farmer in Lebeau one summer that had a 4020 LP. I must admit it was a pain to crank but once it ran,it ran like a top.

    Fogged gauges.

"Fogged" gauges and "frosted" gauges are two different problems. If they are "fogged" from condensation the problem will correct itself when the temp rises and the humidity falls. If they are "frosted" as in have some sort of scale (similar to hard water stains on a shower door) they will most...

    UTV

We have run a Polaris Ranger(gas 4 years) and a Mule (diesel 3 years) . The only trouble we have had was from the Ranger. Drivebelt was replaced twice, shift cable was snapped and replaced, and both CV joints in the front end had to be replaced. Both have operated in near identical...

    tires rubbing

Yes they will rub in the front while turning sharp on driving over rough terrain. I had 305/70 Buckshots on a 98 2500 4X4, they rubbed but you could deal with it. On a Z71 with a softer suspension than a regular 4X4 I would thinkit would be worse.

    Versatile 150 or 160?

I cant speak for the 150 or 160 series in the early to late 80s we had two Versatile 500s. They primarily did dirt work(3000 acers of corrigated pasture land into precision graded rice fields). These tractors were beasts, little to no operator comforts but would out work any man we would put...

    2001 Dodge

It is gas, the 5.7 hemi, 4X4 2500 HD. I know we are hard on vehicles on the farm but his truck just will not hold up like a similar Chevy or Ford doing the same job.
