I don't have any Gerts, have thought about getting a few heifers just to have or Gert/Red Angus heifers. Seem to recall the SG association finally decided to allow breeders to bring in Shorthorn to add new blood and to tighten sheath and knock off horns which will help them long term.

Braford/Beefmaster...damn near the same thing, the only thing missing is 25% Shorthorn. If you held a gun to my head and made me pick...I would do Beefmaster any day over a Braford. Have never seen a purebred Braford (5/8 3/8) that looked good.

Then you better be able to write a pretty big check. Crazy world we live in... $$

Black or Red Simmi would be the way to go..And if me it would be a black or red Simbrah. Good terminal and better maternal IMO.

My Uncle has raised Brangus for years and is sending us some of his females...I put them with a purebred Simbrah and have kept the heifers and they look great. I have them bred back to another Simbrah and a Simmental. Looking forward to the first calves.

Still not sure how there is a black Beefmaster..most of the "purest" Beefmaster breeders are solid red. Collier Farms in Brenham/Giddings are solid red with maybe a little white on the belly. As for the Gerts...they have finally let in the Shorthorn breed..and about time.

One of my daughters is a commodity broker and does most of her work in cattle and hogs...and I know works with a lot of large producers. I will see what she is doing.

Used him for the CE because of first calf heifers....So far these two calves are doing great and growing well. Thanks for the heads up on potential attitude.

We have built our herd using purebred and 3/4 Simbrah bulls. I finally had a couple of heifers AI'ed and we used Uno Mas so these calves would register as a 3/4 Simbrah. Bull calf at 6 days of age with his momma in the back ground. Heifer at 4 days and they have become fast friends and are 3/4...

Might just contact Wulf directly...everything I read about it in the past is that they were using sexed semen to make steer calves but I am sure they have knowledge of where you could get heifers.

"As a bonus the females seem to be pretty nice considering the level of CE he has." I am not sure I understand this part...So because his CE is in the top 1% the heifers are not supposed to be good/keepers? His MCE (top 1%) and API (top 10%) would indicate you keep every heifer but his STAY is...

Was watching either a Red Angus or Simmental sale last year on DVAuction and one of the buyers was Nolan Ryan, the guy running the sale was giddy about it, doubt it is 100% Beefmaster.
