    halter breaking/leading a 7month Charolaise heifer!

Quiet cattle to start off with always helps. I have all my weaners in the yards together whether I intend on breaking all of them in or not. I walk amongst them ( these are Brahman and South Devon) I put them up the race and just rub them down then I put their halter on then let them out without...

    Simbrah Heifer

If a judge here in Australia downgraded a Brahman derived breed for having too much Brahman he would be not be asked to judge the breeds again. If a Brahman derived breed doesn't have adequate Brahman content then it defeats the purpose and the name should just be Simmental cross. Take a look at...

    Simbrah Heifer

If a Simbrah or any other Brahman derived breed is fluffy or a bit woolly in the coat. They simply don't have enough Brahman content. Brahman derived breeds and Brahman itself are the simplest tp prepare for a show. Fitters here in Australia charge more per head to prepare a non Brahman animal.

which breed do you prefer to show and why, poll?

I've shown Sahiwal,Brahman,Gelbvieh and South Devon. The easiest by far to break in South Devon. Brahmans are the easiest to prepare ,they are easy to break in as well but not quite as quick as the SD. Gelbvieh I found to be skitish and somewhat highly strung as were the Sahiwal

    Next years Show heifer

Wow you Americans make up some breed names. Why don't you just have straight traditional Maine An Jou, they would do much better for you than any Chianina influence. But each to their own as the saying goes.I wouldn't be game to buy a black animal from the US. I'd be afraid what "other"...

    Next years Show heifer

Ca you tell my what breed is she meant to be? To my eyes she is an Angus with big ears. If she is meant to be a Brangus, she doesn't have near enough Brahman content. I doubt she would be accepted in Australia as a Brangus.Body wise she's a handy little heifer. if you weren't worried about breed...

    Tell me what you think

Good on you for having a go. I'm not a fan of Black Simmentals. to me they look much to like Angus. I prefer the traditional colour. I can't understand people having black cattle ( apart from Brangus) in warmer parts of a country. Are you in Florida? What made you get into Black Simmentals?

Were they all Pinzgauers that you took to the show? You would have been busy. I know what it's like to take big teams. How come the fair or show organizers don't give you exhibitors a nice area to display your cattle? I know I wouldn't go to one that didn't have nice facilities. I've been to...

Not very nice judging area. We have nice green grassed areas where we show. Were there any other Pinzgauers at the show?

    Hiring a show crew

I have always had trouble getting good help. Been waiting for a young bloke to come and help at a local show. 3 years now since I asked him to come the next day to help at our local show. I always pay above the usual rate. High schools kids will occasionally help a bit at our local show. But...

    Prospect?

She's pretty. She seems very alert. Be interesting to see how she grows up. Your country is very flat. Is that what its like around your area?
