    showing websites?

Even though I do not care for TCCA. theshowbox.com has info on every sanctioned show in the State. Typically all of the nonsanctioned small shows will send flyers to your Ag Teacher.

    Warts- Show in a week

As you may allready be aware, there is no way to hide them within a week. However, I would suggest as the previous poster stated that you cleanly cut them off. You may even consider feeding them back to the calf to help create a vaccine effect.

    cooling room?

Iowa Hawkeyes asked about cooling rooms, not wether we work hair and shape a calf or not. If you're going to show your cattle at a fair and they allow hair, then you are a brain dead fool if you you do not work hair also. It is a competition for who has the best looking calf. If the rules allow...

what to look for when choosing a purebred angus heifer

I agree with Flacowman. With a heifer I like a tapered look. Wider, deeper and thicker from the rear tapering toward the front with a tight neck. As he appropriatley put it structure/soundness is the first building block that you MUST start with. You might want to go online and look at the...

    show heifer finisher ration choices?

Of those brands I prefer purina (fitters edge). However, in most situations I would only feed a developer to a show heifer. as opposed to a finisher. Finishers are too hot. If you are glued to those 3 mills go purina but stay away from the finisher.

    Star Lake sale

They also have an extremly generous scholarship program for kids that buy from them. Juniors are allowed to bring Star lake bred animals back and sell them or their progeny if I am correct. They offer a few great value added incentives.

    Grooming Chute

do you have anything such as a club calf association or jackpot shows in your area? If so this is a time of year that some kids are graduating and will no longer need equipment. I would get myself to some of the shows and just ask around. We bought a number of pieces of equipnemt through the...

    Cost for recips

For everything included, I think it is a fair price. I got the same email. Knowing the guy, I feel you can trust the cows and that the current recip owners will follow through on what they offer. I can find decent cows around here for 8-950 but that doesnt give you anything but the cow. Parkers...

    This week's Angus Report

Why is it that so many feel the need to be critical about the Angus breed and association. As far as I can tell, it is and has been the most succesful breed in the US. There are some things i do not like about the breed and there are some things I would change about the association. But there...

    Heifer with an attitude

As far as breeding the key is not getting them to fat. You just need to feed her a good balanced growing ration and stay with it. When it is time to breed make sure that you give her the appropriate vaccinations. Always keep a good mineral supplement in front of her and make sure you worm her at...
