The bulls look good. We are using CF Trump and Einmoor genetics. A calf over 75 lbs is rare for us.

    Heres a birth weight question

Body condition and feed have more to do with birthweight than the bull or the cow. For instance if you feed a dry dairy cow like a high producing one you will be doing C-sections. Silage fed beef and grass fed beef will show a big difference also. JMO

    NRCS programs

Using the FSA direct payments and cost share NRCS payments are not welfare in any way. They are programs designed to help the farmer improve his income and the land. It also rewards those who follow certain consersation practices. Using these programs is simply good management. 8)

    Crazy Cow

Had a steer go totally nuts a few years back. I got him into the bull pen and called the butcher. He came out later that day and when he skinned him he had some grubs under his hide. The butcher told me he had seen this before and it drove the cattle nuts.

    Pics of your herd bull

If 9 out of 11 calves were still born there are certainly more problems than the bull...............That sounds more like a mineral or feed problem.

    Question about simmentals

 Best thing to do with Simmentals is trade them in on some Shorthorns  Nieghbor has couple hundred Simmentals and has had a nice herd with few problems. Like all breeds it depends on how you handle them. Good luck.
