I don't have any Gerts, have thought about getting a few heifers just to have or Gert/Red Angus heifers. Seem to recall the SG association finally decided to allow breeders to bring in Shorthorn to add new blood and to tighten sheath and knock off horns which will help them long term.

Braford/Beefmaster...damn near the same thing, the only thing missing is 25% Shorthorn. If you held a gun to my head and made me pick...I would do Beefmaster any day over a Braford. Have never seen a purebred Braford (5/8 3/8) that looked good.

Then you better be able to write a pretty big check. Crazy world we live in... $$

Looked at the LS (and everything else) and did my research and bought the Kioti NX5510 HST and we have been very happy with it, so much so that when it was time to buy a UTV we bought the Kioti Mechron. The Mechron gets beat to death and it just keeps rolling.

I have the Kioti NX6010 and love it.

My Uncle has raised Brangus for years and is sending us some of his females...I put them with a purebred Simbrah and have kept the heifers and they look great. I have them bred back to another Simbrah and a Simmental. Looking forward to the first calves.

Thanks to all for the advice..We do have some good grass right now..it was fertilized a while back and have had some decent rain including 2.5 inches earlier this week. Salt blocks are out and I put out two new tubs this past weekend, both are Crystlyx, one is protein and the other is mineral...

I had a Brangus heifer calf at 22 month the other day....82lb bull calf. We have good grass right now but with temps pushing 100 she is looking a little spent. Any special feed/brand I could give her for extra nutrition, besides range cubes and to help with milk?

Based on numbers alone, I like the High Road bull and you get a little shot of Beefmaker on the bottom side.

Still not sure how there is a black Beefmaster..most of the "purest" Beefmaster breeders are solid red. Collier Farms in Brenham/Giddings are solid red with maybe a little white on the belly. As for the Gerts...they have finally let in the Shorthorn breed..and about time.

One of my daughters is a commodity broker and does most of her work in cattle and hogs...and I know works with a lot of large producers. I will see what she is doing.
