    I'd rather eat a steak from. A steer that ate chicken poop . Than cereal with roach parts in it. If people really new what's in their food they would freak . There is a certain amount of by products allowed in all of our food .

    They weren't on the pasture yet. I fully understand how winter pasture works . I used to run between 150 and 250, short and solids / broken mouth cows a winter . that particular time I planted late and was haying.

    I haven't seen anyone feed it in over 30 years . I figured it was outlawed . Surprised it isn't since its animal by product. I guess he used it like people use the protein tubs now .just to give them a boost.

    My grand dad used to mix layer litter with rice bran .. once the cows started eating it he would just put it out with out the bran . Got to make sure it stays dry .high in nitrogen/protein .

    I try to keep a years worth of hay in the barn . When we have a good hay season I move the old out and stack the new in the barn . Feed the out side hay first . If I would have known how bad it was going to be I wouldn't have sold any hay last year .

    Looks like its gonna miss us again .got to the pasture today pond was dry . Look s like the choppers took all my water to bad they don't call and let you know . Good thing I check my cows every other day .really would be pi$$ed if my cows died because of that.

    So it only starts to taste bad after so much is consumed? If it taste bad enough to make them stop eating then it should be bad after the first lick . I guess they have come along way with liquid feed in the past 8 to 10 years

    In my experience nothing will limit a starving cow from eating . The limiters are usually high amounts of urea or salt . the urea will kill the enzymes in the rumen if to much is eaten . what I said before about them over consuming and scouring is from experience .     I have a uncle in orange park Fla. I'm a huge gator fan . He has season tickets . Every year I make at least one game and try to plan it for the fall shrimp run .. u defiantly get soaked throwing the net but its well worth it .

    Also cubes are made from corn and cotton seed meal. Most liquid feed gets its protein from urea ..also cubes are 8 dollars a bag .12 percent pellets are 8 dollars a bag . U can feed 4 pounds of cubes or 7 pounds of 12 percent . Both bags weigh 50,pounds . It's cheaper to feed the cubes .
