Better photos today. Really big calf for a heifer. Very possible 110lbs, I would guess. She sure delivered him half reared already!

Mom' second to last heifer might be thinking about calving today. Piedmontese sired, incalf to salers. Currently on 289th day.

Also, a new arrival at the pure group. Another heifer, 285days.

Fun fact. Almost all heifers calving this year were born from my first ever AI season. That makes the second generation being born from my job.

That should give you a good feeling. Did your genetic choices work out as you hoped they would.

Couldn't say that it didn't work out. Had some not so good crosses and some real good ones. Been using AI way before I started doing it myself, but now got a better access to a wider range of bulls. Could say that every year genetics are improving.

6 days old salers calf.

Had a new arrival last night at the pure group. First bull calf at 282 days.

Pure heifer at 8days age.

The other pure girl at 6 days age. Same sire as the bull calf's. Dams sire is also the same.

High % lim heifer with her parthx heifer. Almost 4 weeks old. Same sire as the oldest heifer's.

No, never. Just cut horns if needed later.

No discounts. It's just an every farmers preference to either have polled or horned animals.

She pushed the calf's dam away, so the dam of the first calf decided that she doesn't want her calf and started pushing it with her head. Sedated the first calf's dam gave a shot of oxytocin, nursed the calf. Heifer slept for a bit, but still doesn't want her calf. The second heifer is a very attentive mom, so no trouble with that pair, except that she stopped the first one from bonding with her own calf.

Both calves are heifers and both are 75% of their sires breeds.

Both calves from heifers should be already incalf and due to have their own first calves next year. And both should have 87% of their breeds calves.

The start of heifers calving in full speed is near. Gonna be a busy time!

Will have 87% sim calf.

The first due is this one at my place. Due on the 10th of April. Others are due starting the 25th.

Gonna have 20 heifers in total calving this season.

Some of the heifers for the next season hopefully:

Good luck! I only have one heifer left to calve and she's taking for-ev-er!!!! Plus, she's wide as a barn and I'm not sure she's packing twins.

The first one calved today from mom's heifers. Charolais sired bull calf out of charx heifer, 287 days gestation, needed some helping hand as the calf is quite big.
