2025 Bull and Projects

Can you feed out the calf with the bad eye instead of selling it live? If you have butchers close and the feed to do it. You are going to get hit hard at an auction I think.
I won't let em give him away. If I have to, I'll bring him home and do what's needed. Butcher him next year. We have 2 on feed now. 😆

From what I've seen at the sale he's going to, he won't get hit too hard.

My money is on you bringing him home Murray. Have you got a sharp spoon?

Ken
I plan on loading him up Sunday for a vet trip. I may have to hold him a little longer but I've got a heifer that's limping pretty good too. She will ride along and get fixed as well I hope.

Here the bwf steer from post number 17.
He's grown well.
I've started a thread in the beef butchering area.

Anybody ever keep a one toed heifer?
This is Sevens daughter whom I suspect got into some mesquite. Vet said hoof rot. Umputated one claw on the right front. I really didn't intend to keep her. But yall know me, I like weird sh!t! I'm to remove the bandage Sunday. And give her a shot of antibiotics he gave me. She's actually walking much better after the surgery than before. Probly the meds/painkillers.

What did the vet do about the steer's eye?

I think you should quit while you are ahead Murray.

Decided to leave the steer alone. Gonna sell him as is. The eye doesn't really affect him, and I don't wanna hold him the additional 45 days for the withdrawal. I'll let everyone know how he sells tho!

@branxchar&charx
Like she got a dang flat tire huh! I guess ya sold her when she didn't breed right back?

You're gonna get hammered on that steer.

I had a heifer with an eye that was way better than your steer. She sold for $0.75 less than the other heifers her size. On that 515 lb heifer that was $388 less money in my pocket. And 5 cc of Draxxin out of a dart would have cured it if I had caught it. You will take a beating on that steer.

@Dave
@Travlr
Thanks for the heads up. Dave's comment on the money shoved me into gear. 😆
I had to go back to the vets to pick up my meds for the one toed heifer and decided to ask him. Figure I'm gonna hold the heifer, may as well hold the steer.

I showed him the pic. Asked if it needed to come out or some antibiotics. (I've never had one like this before)

O yeah he says. It's ruptured. Won't hurt anything, it's just unsightly. No treatment.
Could pop it and he'd have a dry socket. Take him to Enid, they won't hit ya too bad on him.
Well. Ok then...... 😆

I can't make myself pop it. And I ain't gonna haul and have him do it for a fee. May as well just take hit I guess. Whether I pay him or take a hit on the selling price, it seems redundant. I know next time I wean some, I'm gonna haul em and have him work em all before I turn em out to wean!

As an aside, anybody using increxxa? Never heard of it. But that's what he gave me for the heifer.

I got a lil something for everyone this week!
A crooked head. A Popeye. A short tail. And a short eared. The one toe heifer will sell later. She's getting around much better but still ain't ready. Got a few real good ones too tho.
Hoping for the best.

I got hired horses and dogs coming tomorrow to catch the 3 remaining cows that I bought in the spring. They never did settle down. Should be interesting.

Cows are loaded and delivered!
Had to rope all 3 of em.......
I've got some pics but hesitate to post em.
Horse on each side. 2 ropes. Guy in the back with a prod. 3 pretty good looking cows. Should be about 5 months bred.

Wish you would post the video instead of a screenshot.
