Enid Oklahoma sale

What... is going on? Wait a second, was Warren Allison the buyer in the second pic?
Nope. Too rich for me! But this is what they are bringing all over the country private sale. Maybe when the import ban is lifted the prices will go down some, but it might not be much. Or for very long. The guy buying mine called today about picking up the July calves Sunday, and told me starting with these, he is paying us $.25 more on the steers, and $.20 more on the heifers. I think the next few months is going to be interesting to watch. I think this is the time to sell out, put your money in the bank, and just sit back and watch! If we hadn't contracted for all of our calves, that is exactly what I would be doing now!

These were all heavy bred corriente cows. Bred to registered black hereford bulls. Most all cows were in similar condition.
All the breds found new homes. None were going to slaughter that I'm aware of.
I have to say, these cows looked to be in as good a condition as I have seen, but dang!!

This link to a video of the sale is posted on every internet group or forum there is having to do with Corientees. Tomorrow people will be changing the prices on their ads! https://fb.watch/xrStIxJI00/
Can't make the link work here. But I was talking with a couple of the people from the sale over drinks n dinner tonight. Just happenstance. Those cows were bought several years ago at real good prices. The prices you used to talk about on the one thread u had.
And they've raised several sets of calves.

Crazy crazy times for sure!

They had mentioned some corriente website Btw

I would be sick right now owning cows like that and missing out on these record calf prices.
Calves sold last week. Most folks would've never known by seeing them. Brought near as much as the bred cows. Lots of black baldy calves. And a few red baldies.

I wish I'd have taken a pic of the only horned pair that sold.
Calf was pretty dang impressive!
That black hereford looked like a good cross. They had used charolais bulls before. But the calves weren't as consistent. If ya can believe that. Least that's what they told me while I was eating dinner.

Yeah, even those $2k black ones will yield a calf that will bring what she costs, (or even more, if a steer) bred to the right bull. Won't get 2 to 3 times what the cows costs, like we did until 2023, but the 1st calves by the right homo for polled and black bull will pay for even those $2k cows.

This is another reason I wish I hadn't promised all of these calves. I would LOVE to sell those 720-something head for $2k each! But, then again, if I hadn't made that deal, I wouldn't have 700 cows. I would still just have the 100-120 like we always had.

Fairview seems to be a hot spot in that area. They are also getting some top quality pairs. One of the hot spots here is the old Clinton barn.
My uncle was the city manager at Fairview and my grandfather was the city manager in Clinton. I didn’t know they were cow hot spots!

Dang, Murray! Corrientes and Black Hereford in the same post?!! You just need to add how stupid it is to retain heifers, when you can buy Corriente cows, breed them to Black Herford bulls, so all your calves will top the sale bringing CAB premium! LOL.

These $2000+ corriente calves are like sasquatches. All the money is in selling the story even though they have never actually been photographed.
Idk what the calves brought. But I'll bet they brought 1200 to 1500 depending on how big they were. Maybe more!! I haven't been watching the calves sell. But the calf market is terrible high right now. I usually head back to work after cows sell. Sale barn owner was barking about the calves all sold last week tho.
All I got to see was ONE calf from this group. A real nice red baldy baby. If the others looked the same, I'm sure they all brought good money. I did hear most were polled black baldy calves

was this a recent oklahoma corriente sale y'all were referring to?

most recent i saw pairs (deals) at $1900 plus. a few tickled $2200, but i don't

think any more than that.
i was sitting close to the man (like one of you mentioned), phone in one hand and flapping buyer ticket in the other. bought anything that came in the ring.

when he wasn't looking, i got single/heavy pred $1700. yep, a few years ago could have got three like them for the same total price, still adjusting to that.

I am signed up to bid, and if there are 300 black Corrientes, that is exactly the amount I will need to get us to where we need to be. If they go for $1k or less, I'd buy every one, if I just had the pasture for them. If it was June instead of January, I could handle that many more. Yeah. let ne know what they are bringing. Just my luck, they will probably go for $500!!

No, that was the regular sale in Enid last week that had a lot of good Corriente cows, that @MurraysMutts tagged me in his post.
