BELTIE!

Never seen a white face beltie... but never really been very interested in belties so maybe never noticed. Kind of strange how cattle have breedable patterns.
I have a bunch. 1/8 or less Hereford, full white face. Also have some 1/8 or less belted with a full belt. Have few horned cows that are 1/16 highland with all polled moms, dads and grandsires. Genetics can get weird.

IF you have a hetero polled dam bred to a hetero polled sire, the offspring can be horned IF both parents pass the horned gene.

Sold the steer calf off of our belted cow a a few weeks ago.
He was solid black, no idea what he was out of, but was small and real long curly wooly looking hair. Figured at first he was probably out of an Angus or commercial black bull, but as it got older and woolier I wondered if it was by a highland bull.
He weighed 475 at 10 months old and brought $1.70 something, take home was around $840 if I remember right.
Didn’t bring that much in comparison to what an Angus or some breed or cross would bring but he did pay for the cow.
I’d bought a 3 in 1 deal, a cow with a big heifer calf ready to wean, and cow was bred back for $1200. Both cow and heifer should be close to calving and plan is to sell both hopefully with a calf before winter.
