    Murray Grey bull ?

I bought some Murray Grey semen from Semex or Genex (don't remember which) a few years ago. The bulls name is Silverdust (MG1230). Anyone know where I can find info on him. I gave some semen to a neighbor and he used Red Angus (a.m. service) and Murray Grey(p.m. service) on a xbred black baldy...

    Bull video

Here is a clip of an e-mail I got from the AHA . " On the Powerhouse bull, he was purchased or leased by an AI company out of Canada and the Canadian Hereford Association relaxed there rules in order to get the bull permitted. In the meantime, the stud had sold semen in the US without getting...

    Stand out Herf calf

Here is a picture of Chuckie at two weeks old. He wasn't freakishly big and the cow spit him out no problem (she's a big cow). We had a Powerhouse heifer last year and her BW was 86#. He will be a steer later we don't mess with selling bulls. He is 10 days younger than the brown blaze faced calf...

    Stand out Herf calf

Chuckie weighed 112# at birth. He came easy out of an older cow. He does have a lot of white. Our birth weights were big this year. Two in the 70's (heifer and an Ozzie calf) the Murray Grey was 90# backwards out of a first calf heifer  Shorthorn 110# hard pull, 125# Simmi(Club...

    Stand out Herf calf

Here are our 2010 calves. Out of eight calves seven are bulls. This is "Chuckie" out of Semex's McCoy Powerhouse Here he is next to a Shorthorn and a Murray Grey/Hereford cross. Here is my only heifer. She's out of Route 66 born Feb 22nd. Reload calf

Could you steer me in the right direction?

Had a hard pull on a first calf heifer this a.m. 100# bull calf. She doesn't want anything to do with him. We tied her up and got him nursing around an hour after he was born. Have done so three times today. I tried letting him loose with her but she knocks him around real hard. I know this has...

What do like/dislike about these girls

Thanks so far. I am learning how the judge cattle and this helps a lot. We have a small herd and we didn't buy top dollar animals either. I'm happy with them, just need some expert input to help me along!

    Anyone use McCoy Powerhouse (Herf)

The heifers BW was 86#, I made sure I used him on a cow that always throws 80# calves. But you can't register his calves in the US.

Did she do a good job?

My cows do not get anything but round bales all year long. It's first cutting alfalfa/grass mixed, better than most get fed around here but it's what we have growing in our hay fields so that's what we feed. We get three cuttings and let 2nd and 3rd flower completely out before cutting and feed...

    Anyone use McCoy Powerhouse (Herf)

I did, got this nice heifer Can't register her. AHA won't approve him for AI use. No DNA from his dam! I could run him natural service though and register them  .

What do like/dislike about these girls

No comments? Wow, I know they're not fancy "show" animals. Just wondering if were headed in the right direction.

Did she do a good job?

Thanks for the comments. I bred her to Ozzie for next year. Her BW was 78# and her dam (H 8E) always has a High 70-low 80# calf. Was hoping this girl would keep that BW. Her Grandma a Keynote always throws a high 90 #er no matter who she's bred to. She never has a problem delivering them and she...

Did she do a good job?

What gets me is when trying to sell herefords you get the ones that tell you that they're priced too high and I know people with the same genetics as ours can ask 5x's as much and get it!!! Was offered a real nice bred heifer once for a "deal" ....only $4000!!! Wish I could sell mine for that...

Did she do a good job?

With the cost of registering and all the other "fees" involved with the AHA, I've been seriously considering using another breed on the girls. See how they do with the "hybrid vigor" thing. I really like the herefords. Tried Shorthorns but they were very protective at calving and they had BW of...
