he said get her started on penicillian.......he was having us give the injections in the hind end...online i read the neck is better.......where do you all give injections?
Yes she is 3 weeks old...just when you think she can do anymore she has a good day..They brought the herd up today to see...
I found out the milk replacer she is on. It's called purina pro nurse.is that ok? They are also going to get her some electrolytes...One of the cattle men up the road said to start her back on an antibiotic.
I've never been around cattle until this calf was born....I have been around horses my whole life.I've gotten a crash course in calves the last 2 1/2 weeks...shes just literally taking enough to survive but not thrive.....shes down probably 22 hours day...They are off to get her electrolytes...
Not sure the name of it......the bottle is ready when it comes down to the barn.I'll find out today. What is the best milk replacer to be feeding?? I'm at a loss on this calf.....almost back to square one..shes just got no energy or strength..
The calf is back to not doinng well at all....very very weak.......do you think if we could find colostrom it would help her? What can we give her to boost her energy? Would a vitamin B-12 shot help? All she does again the last two days is lay down all day in the "give up mode"...Anymore suggestions?
bez I can now see why most operations couldn't care for a calf like this.it would be just to much time...I'm glad I did have time..
Dee I can't wait for those days!! Actually the owners have decided to keep her as the "farm pet" and later breed her.. :D
looks like they took all the older calves off.to the sale. These are the cows crying for thier calves..It was quieter last night....one seems to walk the perimeter still seraching for her calf....kind of sad but all part of this operation..
Well she hasnt been that healthy in these past two weeks.. and a few times we thought we lost her..everyday I see how much better she's getting. The right front leg is still hurting her..But shes beginning to put some weight down on it..I'm home now most days so I can tend to any needs she...
Well you all know i'm real new to this..late yesterday they culled the herd.Took off some of the bigger babies. My question is..when will the cows stop bawling out in the fields...breaks my heart....I could hear them through the night and still this morning....
update on the baby....shes...
Bama we have been giving her mothers milk most of the last two weeks..accept when she first came down with mastitis she went onto the milk replacer....soon as we had the first of it cleared up she went back to moms milk. Now mom has it again so shes back on milk replacer...But i iwll watch for...
