When do heifers start to "Bag up"?

Just an update: Fatty Udder, not bred. She has 2 ovaries,(Which is why she was cycling, and now that the "bull" is a steer, he's lost interest & only has his mind on feed, where it belongs!) one ovary is deformed, and has a vagina, but no uterus in between, so, no calf. Which is great news...

    Searching for POA

p.m. sent, let me know what happens. If they have one you like, & you need help with transport, let me know, I may be able to help... my kid's heading back to Montana on Wednesday, and not much going on after that, so I could make time for a road trip.

    Feeding corn ethanol byproduct...?

I'm sorry, I quoted that wrong... $50 for a load, (forgot how much in a load) he wanted to drop off 100 gallons for me to try on my cows.

Hey, SS, where have ya been? Nice filly... what's up with the mare... a blue-buckskin roan? That's...different! At least you can ID her in a field, unlike my herd of blaze-faced sorrels, LOL!

    Feeding corn ethanol byproduct...?

Hi all, Okay, local crazy firewood supplier guy came over the other day, to drop off the wood for winter, and was just foaming at the mouth over his "feeding program". Seems, he gets truckloads of this yellow calf-scour looking stuff, dumps it in tanks, and his horses, cows, hogs, & everything...

When do heifers start to "Bag up"?

Thanks for the reply, they have been together since we got them a year ago... vet was going to castrate way back when, long story short, bull calf came with pneumonia, wanted to wait 'till he was over it...(which took forever-he was a preemie- got "Quite a Deal" on the pair. Bought them to raise...

When do heifers start to "Bag up"?

Hi, Y'all remember that freemartin heifer I bugged you about? Well got the bull calf cut on March 24th, and they've been out on pasture since. They are now 13 months old, give or take a week. Last week, I noticed this: COULD she be bred? (He rode her about every 16 days, before he got...

    Horse Rating Scale

    1. Ya gotta set firecrackers off under it's belly to get it to open it's eyes 2. Will ride, but you gotta keep up on the riding crop and spurs to keep it awake 3. Will walk & trot at will, might turn, but needs a motivator to go any faster 4. Average Kid broke horse, been there, done that, might...

    Just some fun pics

Haven't posted in a while, been playing with the kids and horses, but took a few pics, and wanted to share. Went to a little show this last weekend, the 3 yr old got a 5th in leadline tiny tot showmanship. (He answered the judge's question of "What is this called{points to saddle horn}?" Kid...

    fur to much!?!?!?

LMAO! What cracks me up, is Y'all taking the time to COUNT the cats! We have 2 cats in the house, ONLY because it's a 100 yr old farm house, and the mice keep coming in, no matter HOW much of that yellow expanding foamy stuff I fill cracks with, and the dang dogs just watch the mice steal food...

    Tripping

Don't know if this helps or not, but had a "lazy" mare a few yrs ago, she'd do a 3 point nose skid landing in the middle of a trail, just seemed to forget to pick up her feet sometimes. Farrier did the rolled toe thing with her shoes, didn't help all that much. He said to put a pair of splint...

    Diagram for beef cuts?

I guess there's a few up here, and I've seen it done once before, the guy showed up in a truck, shot them in the head where they stood in the pasture,(I guess I thought this was pretty interesting, because they never saw it coming, and never got excited or stressed.) hooked them up to a hoist...
