I thought the general trend was away from large-structured cattle in favor of compact, boxy breeds like angus; and even then the angus people are trying to go smaller.
It's too bad, I think charolais are great looking cattle.

Not sure how great that analogy is since you are comparing an undernourished human to a bull that is eating what it is designed to eat. It's not that forage is a low-protein diet, it's that it is a normal diet and the other feeds are high-protein.
Sounds like a lot of the problems occur when the cattle are confined inside some kind of structure. Am I safer since they are going to be out in an open pasture for almost all of the time unless one gets sick or we have to move them between pastures?
