Hi Karen,,great questions. Hope u make a good grade on your report...i bet u will. Here's my attempt at providing some answers - based on my own experience (may or may not apply anywhere else though),, A good production goal would be to spend no more than half your gross income. Good work with the pencil Utah. IMHO,,if most of us did as much work with a pencil and our noggin as we do with our wrenches,,we'd all likely be a lot better off. 8) 8) ,,,and,,,LOL,,,on the tongue-in-cheek statement that,,,"We're only losing a few pennies per item, but we're...

Great advice you're getting here kid,,,looking forward to hearing how things go for you. Posting here on these boards is a good, smart thing to do. Another aspect of things that we all have problems with sometimes,,is making the assumption that what works on one place will work on another...

Well stated rancher4life,,,regarding the fact that we're all tied together. It sure does help to remind people (including me,,,lol,,) of that. Some real good points being made here. Rancher4life,,,if you've got kids, i want to emphasize what it means to give young'uns the opportunity to be exposed to the outdoors,,the soil,,and the ability to get closer to God's great creations. On my place,,i run a hunting operation along with our...

Welcome to the boards, rancher4life. Great to have you posting up. There's government assistance here and there,,but none - that i know of - that'll help you with the $$'s to purchase land and livestock. If u find such a program,,pls be sure to post it here so we'll all know about it,,ok? ;-)...

    Beginning rancher update - Long

Copeman,,,good question. it's been a long time since i've cut and baled hay,,,and think i may not ever do it again - not in the immediate future anyways. Most recently,,we haven't had to feed any hay at all,,and if there's a need in the future, hay can be be bought for a reasonable price...

    Beginning rancher update - Long

Welp CopeMan,,we can usually figure out ways to do our stuff without a tractor. Takes a bit of thinking and creativity,,but i believe things are gonna end up working out fine. The tractors i've owned in past have ended up sittin' still bout 98% of the time anyways,,lol,,
