    Calf with possible hernia

I have a calf that is a week and a half old. Ever since she was born her naval area has been sagging down from her belly a little bit. I am wondering if this is a hernia or just some of the umbilical cord that hasn't fallen off yet. When I felt it, it felt like a tube. I can't feel a hole to...

Pregnant holstein with sac around belly

Hello everyone, I have a holstein heifer that is about 9 months pregnant. Earlier today I noticed that she has a sac hanging down from her belly. This is about 5 to 6 inches in front of her udders. I am concerned this could be a hernia, but I have also read that this could be edema. I will post...

18 month holstein heifer not cycling

I own a couple of holstein heifers. One of them started cycling when she was around 10 months old. I can definitely tell when she is cycling. The other heifer I have is probably about 18 to 19 months old. I haven't noticed her cycling at all. She doesn't show the normal signs my other heifer...

Hello everyone, I have a couple of 1 year old holstein heifers. I have been using mineral blocks but I noticed that there are some minerals they need that aren't in the blocks. I was wondering what everyone thought about blocks vs loose minerals? What minerals specifically do dairy cattle need...

    Hauling a full grown holstein

The entrance is split down the middle and it's only about 30 inches wide, do you think she will fit through that space?

    Hauling a full grown holstein

Thank you everyone for your advice, I appreciate it, do you think it would be a good idea to remove the center bar that divides the entrance? I was going to weld a bar on each side so the entrance is one big area instead of split down the middle. What do you guys think? Thanks

    Hauling a full grown holstein

Well I don't worry about her backing out if I have a ramp, but this trailer does not have a ramp on the back, she is pretty gentle and has been in this trailer when she was younger. Is there any way to fit this trailer with a ramp and what material would I use

    Corkscrew claw treatment

Just wanted to update everyone on my heifers situation. I took her to the vets this week to get her hooves clipped and he says her feet look a lot better then they were. He thinks that the laminitis was messing with the conformation of her feet. He said the conformation of her feet is much much...
