    shorthorn breeders

Coyote, The heifer calf is a granddaughter of Diamond Baroness 21J. I thought I had successfully downloaded several photos of yearling heifers by Coalpit Creek Leader 6th, but can only find one in my downloads. This is a horned heifer out of a 2 year old heifer. DOB 1/28/11, BW 70 lbs. I have...

    shorthorn breeders

angusdave63- Here is another bull you might consider. This is Coalpit Creek Leader 6th taken about a week ago. As pictured, he has been servicing over 40 cows for 30+ days. He is a 5 frame and will weigh 2,200 lbs right now. He is a coming 4 (September). Semen is available domestically as well...

Hard doing, skinny assed Shorthorn bull

Trying this again. I can see the pictures on "preview", but they don't seem to come through! http://www.kodakgallery.com/imaging-site/services/doc/5238:606167228114/jpeg/BG http://www.kodakgallery.com/imaging-site/services/doc/5418:776108228114/jpeg/BG

Hard doing, skinny assed Shorthorn bull

Scot, I hope you don't mind if I show a photo of a Feb 2010 son of your skinny a$$ed bull. I left the horns on him at the request of a potential customer. I have two other 2010 Bonanza calves- one bull, one heifer. Both are solid red and polled. The dam to the red bull calf is a paternal 1/2...

Source for good, inexpensive alley scales

I was in the same boat about 3-4 years ago and did a search on ebay for livestock scales. I think the weigh bars and indicator ran 500-600 bucks. I mounted it under the chute. Seems to work as well as the neighbors $1,700 one.

    Shorthorn cattle pictures (lots)

TGIB- Thanks for posting these! Very functional cattle. If you have any photos of daughters of the red bull, it would be interesting to see them. I would very much like to see pictures of his dam also if you can. How is the Roan bull bred? Very nice.

    Maternally oriented Red Angus herds

I always enjoy looking at good cows. BRG certainly has some great examples of his program. Another set of maternal Angus cattle I have great admiration for are Diamond D bred. Mark and Don Deboo from Valier, MT "http//www.diamonddangus.com" have mostly blacks, but are as about as good of a low...

    article by Dr. Jan Bonsma

Ned Jr.- Thanks for posting this. I read everything of Bonsma's that I can. I have a copy of the "Worthington Lectures". I would really like to get the Livestock Production "Man Must Measure" book. If anyone knows of an available copy, please PM me.

    A Shorthorn Bull

He looks really good R.N.! With cattle like yours, TGIB's, Coyotes, (and I'd like to think mine) maybe we can make some inroads with commercial producers who realize the benefits of crossbreeding.

    Another Shorthorn Cow

Awfully nice pair! How is she bred? Your grass is certainly ahead of ours. Except for last night, we've been getting down in the low 20's- high teens at night. Makes it fun trying to irrigate. Just can't seem to rain (or snow) in these parts.

    Idaman

Having been raised with commercial Herefords, I will always have a soft spot for them! Thanks, Idaman for some great stories. I hope there's more coming soon.

    Commercially oriented Shorthorns

Northern Rancher- I sent you a PM with the address. Trevor- I do not own this cow. You are correct that Roy Lovaas of MN bred her. She is a Dream Weaver daughter. Dennis Hoffrogge of MN owns her now and she will flushed more.

    Commercially oriented Shorthorns

Stocker Steve. I wish there was more data on this important question! Of course, as in every breed, some bloodlines seem to be more efficient than others. Using a measuring system such as GrowSafe (from Canada) that is being used at Midland Bull Test seems like the only "sure fire" way to...

    Commercially oriented Shorthorns

Thank you TGIB. I'm a great fan of your program! I'm very pleased with the Saskvalley Bonanza calves I have. Roan, at times I'm inclined to agree with you when I'm looking at him in the pasture. Then, the next time, I really like him a lot. His sire is an old bull named Kinnaber Leader 6th and...

    Commercially oriented Shorthorns

The bull calf is "Coalpit Creek Leader 6th" He is pictured here last February at 17 months of age. He has been on free choice meadow grass hay all winter. He will see use this year on our yearling heifers and a few of the cows. His dam is "HHFS Impossible Dream". This photo was taken in 2008...
