    Burning manure pile

This is kind of a crazy question, but here goes-I have a area where I feed round bales in the winter. Loose hay mixes with manure and in the spring I push it in a mound to rot down.I work it up from time to time to help the process. I now have a pile that is a few years old that will not break...

    agco allis

I have two Allis Chalmers tractors that I have used for years. I have noticed a few Agco Allis tractors selling for very reasonable prices. My question,is the Agco Allis the same quality as the Allis Chalmers? Not sure what company bought the Allis name. Thanks Dan

    engine froze

I should have noted it is a gas tractor. I will check the radiator to see if there is a coolant loss. Checked oil and was full. Also the rear seal has been leaking for some time.I keep a close eye on it and add oil when needed. Thanks Dan

    engine froze

Using my Allis d 17 to move hay bales last week. Had at low idle when the engine died. No unusual noise and this happens from time to time. When I tried to restart it ,you could hear the starter drive engage but unable to turn engine. Tried to turn over by hand,no luck. I then tried to pull...

    fence line herbicide

While repairing fences this year,I noticed in one pasture,a area about a half acre has been taken over by a brush that resembles wild raspberries. This brush is quite high and very thick. Unable to walk through it. I don't have a brush hog,so I would like to find a economical herbicide that...

    lumpy jaw

I Will cull this cow in the fall. My next question is-the locker plant that does my processing says they butcher lumpy jaw cattle quite often. My wife on the other hand thinks that a animal with a bacterial infection should not be processed. I was going to make the cow into burger. Any thoughts ...

    lumpy jaw

I have a cow that was treated for lumpy jaw last winter.Vet confirmed diagnosis. She calved this spring and is raising a healthy calf.My question is,although she has the bone infection, she has not lost weight and seems to be doing well. I would like to breed her again since the infection seems...

    lump jaw

Checked with local meat processer about the lumpy jaw cow. He said it was quite common and had no problem with processing it. Just don't wait to long ,the cow will start to lose weight as the lump expands.

    Charolais Health

I raised charolais s for quite a few years and never had trouble with pink eye. Always got top dollar for my feeders before the angus craze took over.If you cant beat em -join em. Started using red angus bulls. That was 10 yrs ago. Some of the calves will still show a little charolais influence...

I have good news and I have bad news.

I also live in Minnesota. Ventura-Franken-Dayton,just proves that Mn voters do have a since of humor. Mpls and St.Paul are getting to be known for the homicide rate more than anything else. To many victims in this state and not enough workers. To old to move to Wyoming now,so just grin and bear it.

Minnesota at war with North Carolina

I have lived in Minnesota for many years. Minnesota has always been a ultra liberal state. As a conservative, its frustrating living in a state where the politicians solution to everything is more taxes. Many businesses have relocated to South Dakota to try to get out from under the heavy tax...

    butchering a young bull

I noticed one of steers I kept back for butchering this fall is not quite a steer. When bindering calves last spring,I must have missed one nut. This animal is 11 months old. To late for the vet to cut him? I usually send the steers in to be processed mid Oct. So my question is-butcher now or...
