Mnmt ~ Tomorrow's the Big Day!

Yup, This weekend we start going back the other way as far as more daylight. Been getting pretty tired of it being half nighttime at eight in the morning! And then dark again before supper. :( So, Happy Solstice everyone! And happy Bud Lights, too!

Have said it before and will say it again...

    Christmas cookies!

For sugar cookies, these are the ones we make for Christmas every year for 30+ years. The'yre called sugarless cream cheese cutouts, but you use so much powdered sugar frosting, that they're very sweet. 1 cup butter, 6 oz. cream cheese, 2 cups flour, pinch of salt (optional). roll out to about...

    Dec. 7th 1941

A lot of us probably grew up hearing stories from the greatest generation about what THEY were doing that day. My mother always told the story of embroidering a large tablecloth while she listened to the report on the radio. She put that unfinished project away, and my older sister, born in '46...

    Winter drink's

Angie, Fall is his time to be spoiled, and winter is mine. Haven't decided about spring or summer yet - after all, we've only been married for 30 years. For the hired hand, I require only 40 hours Mon-Fri, and maybe a half-day on Sat - Sun, but he puts in lots of extra hours planting and...

    For Brett Favre fans...

Correction: I have my weeks mixed up  The Cowboys game wasn't on Thanksgiving. The Pack won that one against the Lions. (Some Packer fan I am!  )

    For Brett Favre fans...

Sorry I'm so late in replying...old Packer fan from way back. Favre is THE BEST! He is so much fun to watch. Treats football like a game instead of a high stakes business. Love it when he gets the defense offsides on a hard count, and then grins. I kinda wondered when he came back this year...

    Winter drink's

B&B is a blend of cognac and Benedictine Liqueur - real smooth stuff! The hired hand just finished cooking supper. He had the thermostat cranked up so high, it woke me up from my nap! :lol2:

    Its Soup Season!!

Your mom was right - some of the best soups are made with guides, not strict recipes. Also. the cabbage thing. It's a staple in my homemade chicken noodle and vegetable beef soups. Put it in early, and it cooks down. Lots of flavor! Anyone know the trick for not burning split pea soup? I always...

    How 'bout them Packers?

I like the way you think! Actually, there was one bummed-out BossLady last night. But a few bright spots: The back-up quarterback looked really good! Who knew??? And Favre has over a week to recuperate. Thanks for all the good-natured razz and play-by-play, everyone! :D

    Very important question

Well, mnmt made the eggs, and they were good, as always. But now I have to convince him that making pie crust does NOT mean buying the "ready-made" one in the store! (He wants to cheat. )

    Question about cookware

Hmmm...Wolfgang Puck pans. Now that's something I should probably put on my Christmas wish list. Nobody would buy me cast iron, because they know I would drop on my toe! Of course, what I'll probably get is a new calf puller. Kinda hard to fit that in a stocking, tho.
