It's probably not available in your area but I like a Doebler's variety named Proclaim

Grim. Ancient variety that few grow anymore. Thick stems and hardy...like a weed. Some still grown in the Dakotas.

My favorite won't necessarily be yours.
Your soil conditions will dictate what you should use, i.e. presence of diseases, growing season, well drained or a little wet, etc.
I seeded 11 acres to a Pioneer variety two years ago, and I'm well pleased and starting to get over the sticker shock.
