Your best beef eating experience?

Help Support CattleToday:

The best have been 3 angus I killed in Dec last year. I completely screwed up and got the feeding program right. What REALLY made it the best was all the cheap beer I had with the steak.

limi cross calf, heifer or bull calf fresh of momma and grass, and no feed what so ever...I know some of you fella are gonna want to throw the :bs: flag......All I can say is try it sometime...I usually take an old cow that has slipped on her calving tim...and you know your gonna ship her....I put her and her calf in a seperate annual ryegrass clover patch with my useless...retired horse....Load momma and calf on trailer...take calf to slaughter point with your butcher knowing that the calf will be knocked in the head as soon as you arrive.. drop cow at sale barn and then wait for that very lean, tasty meat to arrive. I am not about to tell you that corn fed beef isnt good...but I will say this...if you ever do one this way...you will never do it any other way again

It's a pretty sad cowboy that has to eat his own beef.
Only time I have ever ate my own beef was when I was at the neighbors and it was just as good as the one that I butchered of his
why eat your own beef when the neighbor has some :cowboy:

You guys eat them  I thought they were all big pets.

Never gone the grass fed route but have been eating Limi beef (purebred) now for several years. Very lean indeed but awesome flavor.

I believe you Houston. Some of the best pork I've ever had was a whole deep fried suckling feral piglet..... :D
Don't know if that would be "grass fed" or not as feral pigs are basically vultures without wings. They'll eat each other.

1. Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse in OKC. It was a bone-in ribeye.
2. Country Barn in Amarillo TX. It was a Bonsmara ribeye.
3. My House. Bonsmara ribeye.

A piece(ribeye) of American Kobe, cooked med rare............unbelievable!
 medium rare is the ticket. Any thing over medium and you might as well order pot roast.

Agree, but sometimes you need to order it rare/medium rare. Too many resturants think medium is medium rare. It drives me crazy if my steak is medium instead of medium rare!! If someone wants it well done, then they should be eating chicken.

No offense but I am pretty sure that if they are serving $27 a pound Kobe they know the difference.

Ma's Cafe in Loma MT or the Highwood Bar in Highwood, MT on a Friday Steak Night special. Ma's has the steak special on Saturday night and Mother's day.
I don't know what these 2 places do, but those are the best steaks I've ever eaten besides our own beef. :D ;-)
Ate at a place in Billings with my folks, they told me to order the steak. Didn't have the heart to tell them it wasn't that good and it wasn't cooked how I liked it. Told them our was better though.

Several years ago we toured some angus operations in Montana and Wy. I don't know if it was the fact that we were hungry after a full day of looking at cattle, but we stopped at a resturant casino called the Klondike (I think was the name) near Dillon Montana. It was without a doubt one of the best steaks I had ever eaten, I don't know what breed it was but whatever it was is was sure nuff good!

A tenderloin, med/rare w/mash potatoes at Elways while in Denver for the stock show, a close second was when the wife and I were on a late honeymoon trip, we stopped overnight in Cloverdale, IN, there was a flea pit motel on one side of the parking lot and across the way was a bar/restaurant, got a room at the flea pit and wandered over to the bar for supper, absolutely awesome ribeye steak, med/rare and a pile of french fries, can't remember the name of the place though.
