I' going to look at a young bull calf. What do i need to keep in mind while looking over this calf. ? what are some things to look for, or look out for? :cowboy:

you'll get alot of good advice but mine is if you like him "be sure" too look at the parents...especially the moma if he's going to be used as a maternal sire do plenty of looking.... and then some more looking.
 
From what i understand, he is weaned & on feed, Angus & he isn't all that pricey just young. He'll be used on angus & brangus. sounds like all good advice. I'll make sure to get a good look at mama & papa. So he should grow up looking like his parents or close.? And ask what he weighed at birth? will that give me a good indication what he'll produce as offspring??? :cowboy:

well you hope for a 'better' then both specimen. if you don't have one you like. are you could have one that has all you need and want, and try to work on maintaining those traits. ....if i ever get there, i think im going too camp out awhile

My grandpa usually gets bulls from the Sale Barn. Most of that stuff TN posted I'm not sure anyone would ever know. Make sure tehy are semen tested and just solid looks. Straight back alot of the description stuff he had touched on sounded right. But that stuff about 205 day weight and crap I'm not sure how mayn people ever know that when tehy buy a bull to use for breeding.

you can find a good bull there .... but i would'nt recommened it for a beginner, plus you got something you dont know a dam thing about. could be a calving nightmare, in a dinks clothing

I understand that. Thank you. Its the only way I've ever know so all of the talk about numbers when looking into bulls I was never around.
 
i use too not put alot into epds, and eyeballed every thing and still do, "im commercial' but theres too much information avalible out there nowdays..too be left out in the cold.
