I've had my supply of day workers over the years. I want to share some of my observations to those who haven't used any:
You Might Be a (habitual) Day Worker If:
You Might Be a (habitual) Day Worker If:
- You don't have a regular job (or) don't want one.
You only work when the day's, week's, or month's financial crisis hits.
You may or may not show up to work.
You may or may not show up when it is expected.
You always need an "advance" for today's gas, tobacco, or soda (even you were just paid yesterday).
You never have a cigarette...always have to bum one.
You don't live anywhere...you just "stays" somewhere.
You probably don't have any "good" job skills to market to others and don't understand the value of job training.
You bum money from friends and relatives...even if you just got paid yesterday.
You never think or plan for anything past today.
Instant gratification is your style...deferred gratification is a 4 letter word or a foreign language.
You pay double for a pack of cigarettes or soda...not realizing that buying a carton or 6 pack is less.
You smoke premium cigarettes or drink major brands of sodas...it's a status thing.
You usually borrow a friends or relatives vehicle or bum a ride
You don't have a bank account...never enough money to deposit...then you pay a fee at a check cashing service.
Even if you just got paid yesterday, you are out of money today...can't plan ahead.
You always want more money than you are worth to anyone.
You may want to borrow some money from today's boss (if it happens, probably won't be back tomorrow.
