Friends but not your family

I have a family member that he and I are as closely related as brothers but we are not and as different as night and day
He has him a farm leased and a government check and a little mesquite pasture leased from some family
He goes and buys this mare and calls me telling about how pretty she is and how the ol boy he bought her from quoted him a price months ago then when he decided to buy her he went up on the price cause he had put some miles on her so he questions the mans word and integrity and the ol boy sells the mare for the original price
He rides this mare for awhile and the new wears off and she stands in a pen for a couple months then one day he decides to go check cattle on her and she promptly deposits him on his head and breaks his collarbone
He has surgery and gets healed up and calls the ol boy wanting a refund
He doesn't get his money back but gets a replacement instead
He gets this gelding and is telling me how he won't never own another mare
I'm thinking to myself there isn't any way we are really related
One of us was adopted or somebodies momma was getting a little help

Some folks don't have a lick of sense
Heck maybe it just me and the rest of the world is right

He's just become a "horse person", that is all. The vast majority are exactly like that.

Not so much the horse but the attitude. It's always someone else fault or responsibility.
The reason he keeps calling me is cause he wants to borrow my trailer. The last time he showed up to get the trailer he was in a borrowed pickup cause he just noticed he had a cut on one of the tires on his own.

He called me and said he was getting po'd because he has a couple heifers he needs bred and the guy he is borrowing the bull from is dragging his feet.
I asked how much is he charging for the bull ?
He said nothing I don't guess, he didn't charge me last year.
I said well you should offer
He said I only have two I need bred
Again I'm thinking there isn't no way we came from the same gene pool

He's an idiot. Plain and simple. Not the mare's fault he didn't keep up with her.

I'm betting the gelding dumps him too.

That is exactly right. He thinks he can just put a horse up for months at a time like a 4 wheeler.

At least he's interested in cattle and horses. My sister grew up right along side me and lives in LA now. She told me a few years ago agriculture is a waste of time... She said if she wants a steak she can just go buy it at the store and so we don't need ranchers.

That's funny
I guess it could be worse

"Receiving a government check" and "owner of a horse" for some reason do not belong in the same sentence.......

Horses are a rich man's hobby (or woman's whichever you prefer). Horse ownership usually necessitates having a J O B, or two. In your brother's case, he might also need health and life insurance.
