Thanks folks. :) Calf was looking good this morning, up and scampering around the barn, checking on everything -- and stressing 311 to no end. LOL. That cow raised 12 calves for me last year; you'd think she would have gotten used to calf behavior.
Yes 311 does milk very well. ("Supermarket", LOL.)I'll be putting three other calves on her in the next day or so...but since she milks SO heavy, I already know all the calves are going to come down with scours. She milks much more than four calves can handle. I'm already stocked up on drugs in preparation. Don't want to be caught unprepared.
I knew when she was due; she was only serviced once so there was no question about due dates. And I had her palpated at 70 and 180 days to make sure she was bred. This was the cow that ran off - swam the canal, actually - to go visit the neighbor's bull. I called boss up and asked if I could open the gate and let her out with the milking herd. Next morning she slipped out the gate and was back at my place. LOL. So this calf has quite the story behind her. Not to mention that I initally picked 311 up off the dead animal pile, almost literally. :)
