Hi, looking for some input about my tractor.
It is a 1470 White, about 70 hp. 5500 hrs.
It is starting to use quite abit of oil and i have heavy blowby, it is a diesel.
I am wondering if a inframe rebuild(rings) is the kind of thing people do to there machines. I am a hobby farmer, but use it to make hay, and she really gobbles up the oil.
If this could be done, what do you guys think it would cost if someone did it.

These days all oils seem to be detergent type oils for motors .

In years past we had thicker non detergent oils for this
Today is 20 /50 w and we used 60 w for this problem and got another 5 years at least

I have mixed 20/50 and gearbox ep90 oil for a similar effect - run for a while to ;let it build up in the rings then the smoke and the bypass might stop
 
Yeah, you certainly don't want to run that heavy an oil in the crankcase up here.

In-frame rebuilds are pretty easy. Pop the hood off, pop the injectors out, pop the head off and pull the pan.

And then hope you don't have to replace liners. :lol:
