Working on Sunday

LOL this is a good one...always gets to me how some peopel in some places frown on a man working on Sundays..unless its there preacher. Whats good enough for the preacher is good enough for the rest of us. Remember the Lord in your everday life..live your life like hes watching over you all the time..not just on Sunday

After church I'll make a round checking on the cows and putting out hay. I don't plan/schedule any extra work, it seems that plenty of things pop up on Sundays ( & Sunday nights ) without me planning on it.

;-)

I'm scheduled Sundays, have Saturday's off. Work 6 days a week, including holidays unless I'm fortunate enough to have them fall on Saturdays (like this year! :) ) I've often wished dairy cattle had an "off" button.

I do what has to be done such as feeding and taking care of the animals , I try not to work in the field unless it needs to be done such as making hay or harvesting crops, a lot of people in this area don't work sundays . Years ago the fella who had my farm before I got it caught me working on sunday and I said I rather wouldn't work on a sunday but sometimes I ahve to . He said he rather wouldn't work during the week either but he has to .

I'm gonna open a can of worms, but its okay cause I wont be on here again till sat. alot of people around here frown when ya work on sunday too, but the same people will hit the resturants and stores after church on sunday just hoping people there are workin to serve them.
Good point.

With a little planning Sunday can be reserved for Church, rest and reflection. If the ..'donkey is mired get him out'.

With few exceptions(hay field-sick animal, etc) it's a good day for the animals to enjoy their pasture/hay and look forward to the normal come Monday. Haven't seen harm or the loss of one yet with that routine. The fast pace of life can draw us into the vacuum if we let it. We should resist.

Well put.

That's my routine as well.

Same here. We don't eat out on Sundays. I try not even buy gas.

Ollie, I see you have that Wal-Mart portrait studio pic. of TN CattleMan57. Did you get an autographed copy?I bout fell out of the chair. That's great!!

Thank you, thank you , thank you very much. He is a man I have always disrespected..Just kidding...actually we're trying to start a club. This is our club handshake so to speak. Instead of the posse putting notches in our gun we are going to start trying to post wanted pictures of the missing people.

I do what needs to be done on Sunday and can't wait for another day. So if a cow needs help calving I am there, if I need to feed I am there but anything that can be done on Monday I don't do on Sunday. I don't think God told us to rest and worship one day of the week to try to mess up our lives - He did it to help us lead better lives.

Sunday is for church and brunch with family and friends after the service...but that is after the cows have been fed, checked and watered...again in the evening before getting down on the o'l prayer bones and saying thanks....Dave Mc

A guy around here caught me working on sunday and told me an old saying. ( work on sunday pay for it on monday ) I still work on sunday but try to just do minor stuff. JHH

jhh...,

One Sunday we had a cow we thought was having a calving problem and after teaching Sunday school I drove thru the fields and found her... all was well.

As I was returning to the main road a student whirled into the driveway and exclaimed...."didn't we just cover the thing about keeping Sunday holy?"...what are you doing out here with your coveralls on ...not a good example?". I said..."Thanks"... I will try harder and smiled as he drove away.

A few days later, after discussions at the local coffee shop about recent experiences(which are always passed on in a small community)he came up to me and said..."I think I should apologize for my reaction to you Sunday I didn't know you were taking care of an urgent situation".

Yep..the judgemental comprehends not ...'judge not less ye be judged'.....

I observe the Sabbath from Sunset Friday to sunset Saturday- and with a little advanced planning....it's no problem.

Aside from the religion, I would feel that if I had to hustle so hard that I couldn't take a day off, it would defeat the whole purpose of living in the country.

If ya can't take a day off to enjoy what you've got, what's the sense in having it?

Time is our most precious commodity- all who use it wisely will be rewarded with far more than what money can buy. Money you can make any time- but once time is spent, it's gone forever- and who really knows how much of it one has left?

Work Work Work except on sunday, unless the ox is in the mire. I do try to live by that. I think stores should be closed on sunday. All those people have to miss church.

That is what Saturday evening/afternoon services are for. Out of college I worked for a large corporate hog producer and worked every other Sunday AND most sunday mornings I didn't work I got a phone call about some problem or another I needed to come back to attend to. If it wasn't for the abbreviated Saturday service I wouldn't have gone to Church 4 times in some of those years. I have also attended larger Churches which have a Sunday afternoon and/or Sunday evening services for people who (for whatever reason) are tied up on Sunday morning. I have even gone to Spanish language services for the Hispanic immigrants when the Sunday morning was spent with other demands.
