Working on Sunday

I still look around and see how the land lays. Fix it if it is broke. Most definatly during calving season.

No, although I'm working inside rather than outside. Sunday is my day for household stuff. However, if Dad needs help, I help him.

Doing household stuff (what do you charge per hour, quite frankly I'd rather be outside) - or am I just a faster typist? I'm confused! :???:

Off from my real job, yes.

But I work harder at home with the cows and horses than I do at "real" work; sat. & sundays are a must when your already working fulltime.

Sundays off?

Not on my place. Cows still have to be fed, watered, etc...I feed everything 2x a day.

Now, I don't work for my boss (milking cows) on Sundays unless he's on vacation... like he has been for the past two weeks. Today was the third Sunday I've worked in a row, but he comes home tomorrow and I won't work Sundays until next spring when he leaves again.

Sunday? what day is today? everyday seems to be the same LOL. Although my wife and I do sleep in until 7:30 or 8 on sunday mornings.

There's always things to do, no matter what day it is. We usually go to Church, and have things we get done afterwards.I know a lot of people around here, sit idle on Sunday, but most of them are retired, and have nothing but time on their hands to get things done during the week.

I work just not as hard except for planting and harvest gotta keep er going then. Summer and winter though spend the time water skiin or car hood sledding depending on which season it is. Do smaller chores no big projects.

I always feel guilty when I work on sunday. Here in the bible belt people generally frown when they see you working on sunday.

I'm gonna open a can of worms, but its okay cause I wont be on here again till sat. alot of people around here frown when ya work on sunday too, but the same people will hit the resturants and stores after church on sunday just hoping people there are workin to serve them.

For us, the weekend is harder work then during the week. Like a lot of others have said, we work full time jobs during the week and work on the farm on the weekends. There's too much to get done to take Sunday off, although it would be nice to rest once in a a while.....

cattle dont take days off.an that includes sundays.it is the slower day.unless your penning cattle for the sale on mondays.people that farm as a hobby do have to work 7 days a week.milking cows i got used to working 7 days a week w/o days off.scott

If ranching was my only job then you bet i would take sundays off but its hard to see things that need doing and just set around i got to much nervous energy anyway. :hat:

With a little planning Sunday can be reserved for Church, rest and reflection. If the ..'donkey is mired get him out'.

With few exceptions(hay field-sick animal, etc) it's a good day for the animals to enjoy their pasture/hay and look forward to the normal come Monday. Haven't seen harm or the loss of one yet with that routine. The fast pace of life can draw us into the vacuum if we let it. We should resist.
