Wood Feed Trough

Help Support CattleToday:

These have held up for me pretty well, though you've got to make an effort to keep them clean.

We just bought 10 10' troughs that were 20" pipe cut in half with 10 inches or so of 8" pipe sideways under them for legs. The man that makes them says he has some customers with 10 year old ones that don't look any worse for wear than the new ones...it takes the tractor and fork to move them but for $200 I couldn't find a better deal. The poly trough in a metal frame is just too flimsy and the all poly troughs are over $300 for a 10 foot trough around here.

Wood feed bunks.. around $100-150 to build. Have some 20 years old. Bulls have not destroyed
them yet. We have replaced a few rotten braces that were knee deep in mud a lot, otherwise
they stand up well. I chain them to the fence in the bulls pen. Too heavy for me to keep
turning back over!!
