winter wheat

I live in north alabama near the TN line. What is the best time to plant winter wheat? Can you get a pretty good stand by broadcasting or is no-till the better method?

Don;t know about timing, in this neck of the woods it's around mid august. Depends on how much bare dirt you have. Broadcast and rolled will work with mostly bare dirt, if there's foliage, a drill will get better results

I usually disk and then drill mine...

I target planting in September the first time we have decent rain in the forecast.

I use a Winter Wheat / Rye grass pasture mix.
