Wildflowers in Bloom

It appears cattle like wildflowers..........I don't remember this hill looking like this since I was a kid. Dad kept the spray regimine better than I do. Besides a really wet fall and winter, the only thing different is cattle. I havn't had any on it since late August.

really pretty. you could make a few dollars taking pictures of babies and brides in that sort of cowpasture!

Pretty much the same here. I think they are just fill in the gap where the grass died in the drought.
I'm sure going to piss off a bunch of tourists when I spray the field next to the hi-way for replanting seed.

Funny thing, just pretty weeds and not much grass. Won't be long before the ugly weeds take over. Working on the fences to this pasture I started smelling something sort of sweet and perfumy. Finally figured it out.....horsemint. This place had better rains in 2008 but really took a hit in 2009. Moved the cattle home in August then armyworms cleaned up what was left. About the only thing growing is some clovers, medics and weeds. Reluctant to put anything on it because of bloat. I've got plenty of grazing at home so we are going to let this place set out for a while.

A couple hillsides on the highway I used to drive going to work are usually really nice for a few days.......till the picture takers tromp all the flowers like a herd of cattle turned into a cornfield. :lol:

Yep, got out and took the pictures to send to my sister. Going to see if an old woman can remember her childhood. :lol: Picture taking was more fun than fencework too. :nod:

Stuck a t-post between the cedar.....stays...... Had to cut the yaupon out to get to the wire. Tain't pretty but is functionable.

That has to be a Brangus dog....got a little too much ear to be angus.

Actually their are two dogs. One is purebred black lab.....I guess it could be the angus, and one is a composite (I think black lab and Catahoula) so I guess it could be the Brangus... :lol:

Both love looking for rabbits but neither are very good at finding one. The mix loves to stick her head out the window and bark when running cattle out of pastures. :roll:

Vet...I guess those dogs are a lot like people....the "chase" is 90% of the fun. :lol2:
