~ WILD PIGS ~

A thought to remember, Karl Marx said, "Remove one freedom per generation and soon you will have no freedom and no one would have noticed.!"

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was wrong.?

The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.

He asked: "Do you know how to catch wild pigs.?"

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.

The young man said that it was no joke. "You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food.

"When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

"They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

"The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.!"

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn... They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity."

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of freebie programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, Affordable Health Care (Obamacare), net neutrality regulations (govt. internet control) etc., just a little at a time.!! Should Gun Control become law we will officially become socialistic state and be well on our way toward a totalitarian communist state.

One should always remember two truths:

There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

If you see that all of this wonderful government "help" is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to share this with your friends.

If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life, then you will probably not share this.............BUT, God help us all when the gate slams shut.!

I'll buy into the no free lunch part, but I kinda disagree with the second part of that statement.

I hire a lot of people to do stuff for me that saves me money. If I'm making 85 bucks an hour doing what I do, and pay someone 40 bucks an hour to do what they do, I'm making 45 bucks an hour to keep working at what I do and paying them to do what they do.

If I have a the skill set to do the job or the ability to educate myself on how to do it,
you will never convince me I saved money by giving it to someone else.
I have never seen a dollar with extra printed on it that came out of my billfold.
It still cost you as you reduced your pay by 50%.
Do on your idle time and you have 320 bucks to put up .
I am just tighter than a crabs butt and that is waterproof.
For years worked in the oil patch while operating a business.

CB you are correct. I do service work and I "give" a lot of work away by telling people over the phone how to correct their problems, which are normally simple. I just can't stand to see them pay me for a service call and then think I'm taking advantage of them when it was something simple. In the end it gives me a lot of good referrals.

CB, I reduced my pay by 50%, but I would have reduced it by 100% if I did it myself.

My "idle" time is at night from 10 pm to 6 am while I am sleeping. Between my two businesses and work around the farm, there ain't any idle time.

Did your business employ any one, or did you do it all yourself?

I have customers that bring me work all the time that they tried to do themselves, most of the time it was diagnosed incorrectly and they already put a bunch of money into parts that were not needed, and time that they lost while screwing with something the didn't know anything about. Then they still have to pay me to fix it. I have found that it's better to pay someone else to do what they do well, and spend your time getting paid for what you do well.

Just my .02 :tiphat:

That has been my philosophy ever since I could afford to pay someone to do stuff that I couldn;t do well. Most times I still swap specialties when I can.

iPad as you can tell I have not mastered it yet and may never at my age.
Old dogs can learn new tricks just takes a lot longer.

I showed this to my son who is a student at an engineering college, he posted it and it has got some of his fellow students talking. Thanks for posting this.
