Why did CB's post "R word" get locked???????

i thought it was a good thread. A lot of good down home common sense and problems that need to be addressed.

Personally I did not read anything seriously offensive on the "R" topic. A lot of good common sense, social & economic realities were expressed. Of course, there was a hint of "politics" and/or possibly "politically incorrect" comments. I didn't read anything that might be construed as libelous or slanderous....

On the other hand, if people can't question what goes on in a society and voice opinion and/or outrage with things that are happening, then we are slowly losing our 1st Amendment Rights...

Granted, this is Macon's Board...he can do what he wants to on it...

About Caustics post. I dare say it might have got locked because some got real scared when Alice agreed with and complimented Caustic. I must say when she did that I immediatley started watching the news headlines for woman from Stephensville Tx who jumped off cliff. Maybe van called someone and got it locked because she was loosing it and threatened to sue cattletoday if she jumped. :lol2: Who knows? :nod:

Well, obviously you don't know nothin'. :P And CB (?) can't get that lucky. There are no high cliffs around here...except for the fire ant mounds I haven't doctored yet. As far as Van's concerned...I don't think I'll tell him about this. He can get a bit peeved where I'm concerned... :heart:

I didn't think it ws nasty at all, and if you were blowing your stack at me I didn't see it. ( I could have taken the bait on the economics 101 comment but I have too much respect for your posts to do that ).

And most people who disagreed with Caustic's (??) thread were polite enough to stay out of the discussion. I think we all know the driving force behind this recession is high gasoline prices. And what's behind that?

the high oil prices drive the gas prices.but im hearing some rumbles about a new oil pipeline being built.so oil mixed with sand.can be sent to a refinery in neederland texas from canada tobe refined.but it maybe the other way around i really dont know.may know more in a few weeks.if the pipeline goes though they want the oil flowing by mid year 2011.

Oil isn't the problem. There's plenty of oil. It's the increase in the price of oil/gasoline. A guy who spent about $20 a week for gas to get to work in 1999 is now filling that same tank for about $60. A monthly gas bill that goes from $80 to $240 means he's going to have a lot less money to spend on other stuff. If he can't take the family out to eat, to a movie, on vacation, all those places will lay off employees or shut down, which means their employees can't take their families on vacation or to a movie..... And I haven't even mentioned how food prices have increased because of diesel, fertilizer, etc., prices have increased.

We all have opinions. I don't believe world demand has made the difference that we're seeing in the price of gasoline or oil. Nor do I believe it's a refining problem. They're simply charging more because they can.

the pipeline i was talking bout will move those oil sands to the refinery.im hoping to learn more about it as time goes on.

The price of oil is controlled by the traders of wall street trading futures. They can tie up a contract for very little money. The rest of the oil and gasoline is based on these trades. A lot of the crude in East Texas is already contracted foer $40 to $50 to the refiners. If the trading floor for commodities futures were shut down we would see all of the commodity prices come down to a point where the buyer sets price if he had a use for it. A trader trys to run the futures price up and bail out with a little profit. They are only trading paper. Some of them win and some of the lose.

I agree. Most people haven't a clue the costs that come with regulations or how it affects their own pocket book. Most view these regulations as "picking on the big boy" but the big boy is just going to pass these costs on to you plus some for his aggrevation. Sad thing is, the little boy doesn't have pockets deep enough to overcome the regulations so there isn't a chance he can give the big boy a run for his money and keep him honest. Hence our predicament.

So please take time to tell me what new environmental regulations are to blame for oil/gasoline prices skyrocketing as they have during the last seven years? If anything, regulations have been loosened during the last seven years, yet prices still climb.
