Caught 33 Monday. They are starting to move up to the banks. We fished hard Tuesday and only caught 11. I'm gonna practice some catch and release...... in the grease.

We were in your neck of the woods at Larto. We fished all over, Pop's Point, Shad Lake, the Buzzard Roost, and a half dozen other places that I can't remember the names of.
We were catching them on Electric Chickens. They wouldn't touch a shiner.

Not at all. I may be going to Simmesport this weekend to see if I can catch me a few - and maybe a few spotted cats.

Nope. Too windy.

My FIL called yesterday (he's still down there), and said that he caught 5 yesterday. I'm glad that I left Tuesday. With the weather warming up, they should really be turning on soon.
 
Them are some nice croppies. To bad we still are ice fishing with 2 and a half feet of ice on the lakes yet. It got really cold here in Northwest Iowa this year and this is the thickest ive ever seen the ice. Almost had to put an extension on the ice auger. Cought a few nice croppies last saturday when i went but it was a slow bite. Went in JAnuary and filled a five gallon pale full of croppies, perch, and blue gills betwen thre guys and we wer only on the lake for 4 hours.
 
Yep. Just about every building out there is at least 8 ft off of the ground. To my understanding, that campsite floods every 10 or 15 years. My paw-in-law bought a FEMA trailer and put there for a camp. It can be moved out if the water comes up.
His sister has a really nice camp, the one on stilts.

Skinman, my sister and her husband use to live on Grand Isle down at the bottom of La.....nearly everything there was built up on stilts like that. Heck I think the so called "altitude" of the place was about 6 inches above sea level. :lol:
