wheat pasture and weaned off calves

We have an abundance of wheat that doesn't have any calves on it. We have an additional 100 acres that could hold calves. My question is, would it be worth buying some weaned off calves to put on it, or possibly some fall calving pairs. We get high ration grain for around $140 a ton, how cost effective would it be to put the calves on the wheat and feed a little grain then sell next spring.

Absolutely the most cost effective means bulldealer.

Minimal risk with good returns. I bet guys around here would pay a pretty penny for good wheat fields now.

Been going for 30 to 40 cents per lb of gain. Could be more now.

That's something that you never know unless you contract them as yearlings going back out..
