What's your New Years resolution

2014 was a real struggle and still not out of the woods yet
It's been a real lifestyle change and still inbetween homes

2015
I'm settling down and sprouting roots although I don't have the slightest idea where that'll be
I loved Oklahoma, but I have always had an itch for the big wide open New Mexico country. West Texas is home and I thought I missed, but I miss Oklahoma, especially the people, they're my kind of people. I seriously may return

I wasted a lot of years of my life sitting behind a desk and living in my tiny world
If I had it to do again. I'd of worked less on climbing the ladder and focused on making a living at something I enjoyed and not worried about " making something of myself"

Seems only fair everyone got two lives. A practice run then the real thing
I have some left in the tank and hope to make the most of it

I don't have much for resolutions... fix up some fences and corrals.. Always try to get through a calving season without losing a calf.. Make the right choices on the replacement heifers..

I will try and spend less time online so i will sign off CT on December 31 for the rest of the year. I will return on January 1,after the new year. You will all be missed. ;-)

I quit working out this fall and started buying more cows. This leads to a number of changes that will take a couple years to totally work through. The short list for 2015 is:

Less stress.
Less commuting.
Less crop farming.
Less equipment repair.
More fencing.
More AI.
More hunting.
Higher stocking density.
Harder cull'in.
Better listening.
Better health.

YOU remind me of myself 30 years ago when I was a banker. Unhappy as he!! but unwillingly to give up the big money. Seems the good Lord took control and that was it. Life has been much more enjoyable since the day i turned in my keys to that place. Been doing what I want ever since. In your case you jsut need to find out Where you want to go and WHY !!!! Right now you seem to just be "circling". Best wishes.

Since the wife is retiring 12-31 my plan is to spend more time at the farm.

I'm going to quit the commercial breeding route. I've cut it down to my one big herd over the past few years as the farming and ranching have taken up so much of my time and I've been telling my wife for two years that I was about ready to quit but I always find another piece of ground that I "need" and sign up for another year. When that customer hired one of his buddies from church as the maintenance man I got a little worried and it's turned out worse than I thought. Yesterday I left so mad (and three hours behind schedule) that my family didn't even want to be around me until afternoon when the beer kicked in. There have been a lot of days like that this year.
Today wasn't much better so I finally made my mind up for good. F$%! IT... I'm DONE! It will take me a few months to tie up some loose ends but I'll be out of there by this time next year at the very latest.

I guess that my goal for this next year is to spend more time on my horses. I did a Ranch Hand series this year on a little paint mare, but I have a couple of other horses that need to go through it. (Great for training and desensitizing.)
My resolution should be to eat better. But I know from years past, it is a useless resolution! :mrgreen: :lol:

That is my intention as well (and my wife's) --to give up smoking.
I figure it may be easier to quit in mid winter, since we do not ever smoke indoors, and because I don't want to go outside in the cold anyway if I don't absolutely have to.

I figure we can quit ok-if we don't kill each other in the process....either way, we won't be smoking..

Been off Skoal 2 months and I still want a dip.
Quit smoking 40 years ago that was nothing compared to giving up skoal.

CB I have an old uncle almost 94 years old. Quit smoking over 50 years ago. Says he never opens a beer or gets up from the table after eating that he doesn't still want a cigarette. I've heard the "dip" is even harder than smoking especially if it's menthol...same for menthol cigarettes...may just be heresay.

Quit smoking 3 years ago cold turkey. Had a celebratory cigar here and there but those don't count
I don't care to get rid of my other vices yet. A guy has to have something :hide: other than that I'll just keep on keepin on and try to learn as much as I can along the way
