Yesterday, opening of MN waterfowl.
Opened 9 am, I didn't get out to the farm until 11. Had to take Cooper to the Vet. [and that's another story]
A pickup parked on a public road. 4 guys with boats worked their way across the 30 acre pond and had set up with a zillion decoys.
Shooting like crazy. We had a very good hatch of ducks and geese on the ponds.
I went around to have a chat with these guys, and told them they were on private property [mine] pack up now. Next time ask, I need to know who's in my pasture.
Anyway, couple of the guys said OK and a couple started to argue.
About MN new stream access law. The law states something like. If you put a boat boat in a body of water legally,
You can use the shoreline to the high water mark. To set up duck blinds, camp, whatever. This law is going to cause some big problems. For instance lake shore owners will have people camping, whatever in their front yards.
I asked these guys their names, thinking they might be local. They wouldn't give me their names.
I told them "if I call the sheriff I will press charges" Still more argument. When the deputy got out there. Seems a couple of them had forgot to pick up stamps, some lead shot, no life vests.
Anyway it would have been so much cheaper for them if they just left.
On this piece of land I pay taxes on the whole piece, including the land that's on the bottom of the ponds. and the vegetation. I dropped the trespassing charges, figured it will cost them plenty. Trespassing up here is severe, fines and loss of hunting privileges for a year.
