Have a 2016 model 1000 poundish heifer, pulled a dead calf this spring, and it was a very hard pull. She has been with the bull since. Have seen her cycling and serviced the last couple months, and have decided she isn't going to be able to take.
I'm trying to figure out what to do with her. Ideally, I would like to throw her on feed for a little while and take her to the butcher.
Any issue with beefing an animal that's carried a calf, as far as the meat goes? So far, we've only butchered an 18 month old bull, which was delicious. Ive been getting mixed opinions around me on beefing this girl.
I figure it would beat the snot out of grocery store meat and would be the best bang for my buck vs selling her open at the sale barn.
Thanks.
