what is this taking over my pasture?

It amazes me that a lot of folks spend a ton of money killing cow feed. I understand if your selling hay in keeping foreign species out but if you grazing it your cows will do a good job in controlling it..

That is literally the only scientific name, that I remember from weeds class. It's a mimic of blue grass.

How tall does it get? Seen grass that i dont know what it was but looked a lot like that it never got more then 6 or 8in tall

i dont consider it cow feed when cows wont eat it and it is chocking out the fescue.

Only way I've killed it was with glyphosate, but that also wacks the fescue. I would probably mow it really low a couple of times before it gets too far along in the seed setting process. If it is taking over large areas of fescue I would do one area at a time each year till it was under control

Intensive grazing and they will eat it. But to each his on. I don't have fescue so I can not relate but this grass emerges here before the Bermuda really takes off. Never knew what it was called until now.

as an aside. Once the fescue takes off it will choke out the bluegrass, or at least out grow it.

Poa is my guess .. I've always called it rescue grass .. my cows eat the mess out of it ..

I am only one county to your east...Giles...and it came in my pasture last year...was going to ask the same question but don't how to post pictures...guys my cows will not eat this plant and it will spread rapidly. I know it will take some pasture renovation but worry bout what is in the seed bank. It gets 8-10 inches and seems to choke out the fescue and clover.

Will follow this thread and look forward to advice/experience.
