No a mule is what you get when a donkey breeds a horse. Smarter than a horse, but not as stubborn and small as a jack. Great animals.

I too learned something new.... Is there any difference in a Hinney and a Mule? Temperment, size, brain power, etc?

It's called a hinny mule. A hinny mule favors the horse, shorter ears than a reguler mule, smaller head like the horse. IF you get a good one their tough as nails. Most of the ones I've seen aren't to desireable.

ran chutes one day for some ropin friends and this man had a ropin mule that put every horse and man to shame there that day. it was really somethin to see.

Alan, mules seem to be much more intelligent than a horse. I horse will step in every hole, run over every thing in his way...you name it, he can find a way to hurt himself. A mule will do just the opposite. Very very careful and will seldom put himself in danger. Also if you hook a horse up to do work, like plowing or pulling a wagon or something he'll work himself to death going at it so fast and hard. I mule will take his time, get the job done better and never break a sweat.
