Yep, I do in fact have a few more calves that I'm curious of what you think the breeds might be. Crosses, yeah, but what kind of breeds??
(hint: again, I don't really know myself, but could only guess.)

Well??

Ok, #1 I would say Shorthornx , possibly with hereford, and/or angus. #2 Simmental cross, likely with angus. and I can't see enough of #3 to make a guess.

#3 is a bit of a wild one, hard to take a pic of. But here's a little better one of him, but it's rear view:

he's roan,fyi.

#2 is dark grey, fyi.

#3 Shorthorn x Char, and I will still go with Simm x Angus for #2.

ABbeef, I think you're having entirely too much fun with this new group of calves...I wish I could help you figure out what breed crosses they are, but hey, I can't even do Celsius (thanks for the conversion link, by the way).

#1: so if some of you think he's a simmiX, shorthornX, herefordX, or whatever, then where'd he get is dark-colored nose and eyes??

and #2: correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this fella have some murray grey in him? or is this jus a wild guess with no apparent meaning?

#3 my guess is shorthornX?

P.s this aint the finalle post of this thread, y'know  ....

We had a hereford calf born this spring with a dark colored nose. Her mom was solid black, and the sire was Hereford. So it could be out of a black animal (carrying the red gene) and a hereford, or could be a mixture of crosses, say Black Angus/Hereford/Shorthorn. The reason I put the shorthorn in there is the facial markings and the markings on his feet. But, I have seen HH x AN with the same type of marks, also Longhorn will sometimes throw the same type of markings on the feet.

The grey calf will have resulted because some simmentals carry the dilution gene. So, if you were to breed a black angus animal to a red/tan simmental animal you could get the grey if the genes clicked that way. It is possible that he could be Murray Gray cross, but I think it unlikely, unless there is a Murray Gray breeder in your area. Murray Gray is pretty uncommon up here I think. Another possibility would be Charx crossed with Black Angus or another Black breed. The reason I say simmental though is because of the marking on his face.

okay, well there's quite the possibilities, either way they look like they're gonna be some great lookin steers
